Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Finally received my Mirror NX-01 today over two months after ordering it and being charged! It is a beautiful model and the "mirror" paint job is crisp and bright. The NX-01 was always one of my favorite models of this collection anyway for it's detail and overall quality so I figured I would enjoy this one as well. :techman:

edit: Going to slightly downgrade my initial enthusiasm for this model. It is missing two major areas of the paint design. It does not have the red underneath the saucer section or the red swords along the nacelles. The yellow on top is quite distinct and nicely done but not having the red coloring is a bit of a disappointment.

Got the Enterprise-A from the store yesterday. To be honest, this one doesn't excite me quite as much as some have (perhaps because I already have a refit Enterprise by Johnny Lightning that's so similar in appearance and scale). I don't have the refit Enterprise from this set (which I know a lot of people weren't happy with) but I wonder if the whitish color is really better than the gray of the refit. Also, some of the seam lines are more obvious than I'd care for.

Still, I'm pretty happy with it and always glad to add another "hero" ship from this set (except Voyager) to my collection.

Consider yourself lucky that you got this one. I pre-ordered mine but my order was cancelled a couple of days ago and refunded. When asked why, they responded: "Unfortunately there were only a certain quantity that were supplied to us and you were one of the last to pre-order the product, which we were unable to fulfil for you. I am sorry for any inconvenience that may have been caused."

Guess I'll have to wait until they get a new shipment or try to find one on eBay. :(

Oh, and they're out of binders again. They've removed the listing entirely from the main storefront as I guess they can't ever keep them in stock reliably enough to make them regularly available.

Starts cussing.

Thank God I never stopped my subscription. Just keep reading horror stories about supply for people using old fashioned pre-orders. Worst I've had so far was a poor glue job on my 1701 refit and a couple month delay the last time binders were sold out.

The bad part is the Mirror NX is not part of the subscription.

Correct - it was an extra thing that was only available in the UK storefront & not a part of the sub.

Edit: Interestingly, Big Bad Toy Store says they'll have it in September and Amazon says they'll have it at the end of December. So if Eaglemoss never comes through, there's always that. Gotta wonder if these and other stores bought up a ton of these from Eaglemoss in bulk at a discount which is why they ran out.

I am also on subscription and have never stopped it. Only thing I didn't do was ask at the start of my subscription to get automatic binder shipments. I have since corrected that mistake. Also, the only ship I have received damaged was ironically Issue #1 when I first started. One of the nacelles was broken off. I called and they immediately sent me a replacement, no questions asked. I still have that broken one sitting on a shelf somewhere.

Correct. I had to special order this one as it wasn't part of the subscription just like the I.S.S. 1701 Enterprise.

I put in a special order for 2 extra binders a couple of months ago and I just got an email that they're on their way - WHOOT!

I popped into a local comic store a while back. Since I had some cash burning a hole in my pocket, I decided to have them order a ship from their distributor. It was the Sabre class, since that was the last of the four "First Contact" ships that I didn't have.

A few weeks went by (I first ordered in on July 2) and I eventually was left with the impression that the store manager's distributor was screwing with him when he said he had it. He offered me a refund, but I really wanted that ship, so he started asking around other stores about a potential trade (no luck), so he started looking at eBay and other, more expensive options. Looks like he's gonna have to get it from a more expensive source and split the difference with me. It's kind of disappointing to have to shell out another $10 (CDN), but at this point, I just want the damn thing already.

On a happier note, with the "A" I recently got (see above), I'm about halfway in terms of having all the Enterprises now. I have the NX-01, the 1701, the A, and the D. Still have to get the refit, the B, C, and E (and eventually the J).

You're not alone in having issues getting your hands on a Sabre. I tried ordering one through Eaglemoss's website in February, which was finally refunded in June with a message that they were out of stock for the foreseeable future. I'm guessing something went wrong with the Sabre production line at some point, as all my previously delayed orders showed up eventually. A real pity, as I too still need it to complete my First Contact quartet.

I have a spare one knocking about due to ordering online and then picking one up in a shop.

If anyone is interested in it of course.

The future All Good Things Enterprise-D is now available on the webshop btw (on the UK one I know anyway)
As a non-subscriber I never got this and could never be bothered paying way over the odds on ebay for it, so nice I can finally get it now. I guess originally it was a Subscriber exclusive, but its been three years now since the collection started so they've had their fun.

Ordered it yesterday so let's see how long it takes to arrive........

Tempting, but I don't think buying one from Ireland would be very economical for someone in Canada. You should try selling that on eBay though.

Looking over the prices from here to Canada, it's not massively expensive and if you're willing to pay the cost of postage, I'd rather not have the hassle of putting it up on ebay.

Anyway, on my lunch, I popped into Forbidden Planet and picked up the Scout Ship and the Aero Shuttle.
