Beyond will likely drop out of the top 10 according to the latest estimates. and will come in with about $3.5 million at the box office.
Stupid question, but how is box office actually determined? Does Paramount collect a percentage of ticket sales, or a fixed dollar amount per ticket? I was wondering if Paramount received a lower dollar amount from matinee ticket sales. It just crossed my mind the last time I went to see it, since it was a matinee.
I agree with most of the OP's points, especially about the poor marketing.
I think it should be mentioned that this is (for the most part) a terrible film. It's essentially Fast and Furious in space. The moments with The Beastie Boys + Public Enemy music were cringe inducing. And don't get me started on Kirk popping wheelies...If one chooses to look at this film objectively they must admit those scenes were truly embarrassing.

When I see statements like that I wonder if they watched the same movie as me, I have watched the Fast and Furious films and its nothing like it in terms of story telling... This isnt the best movie in the world but its got the best character moments of any Star Trek film in while and really felt like a big screen Star Trek episode (in a good way unlike how people complain about Insurrection)Totally disagree.

The film also has a weak villain whose motivations unclear at best.
... followed by an entirely subjective post about the film.Dennis, I can honestly say that's not true. I am looking at the film completely objectively
This is a very scary year for paramount. The funniest thing is that their "fall" began when our little friends at disney bought Marvel and kinda snatched those movies from them, and then star wars came along.Well Beyond continues to remain Paramount's best performing movie of 2016 thus far. Ben Hur which was released on Friday is officially a bomb expecting to make about 12 million on its opening weekend on its $100 million budget.

In 2015 they reported revenue was down nearly $3billion from 2014.
