Star Trek Discovery

I'm pretty sure the possible meanings of "all good things" have been discussed a couple times already, whether in this thread or other ones.

Kor

How about a Netflix miniseries?

Just X-Files it all the way.
I've generally been against a return of TNG, as I don't think a new series or theatrical movie would be a good idea. But if the 2017 relaunch works, it would be cool if they produced a one-off TV movie. I imagine the plot would be "getting the band back together one last time", and would probably crossover with a couple of characters from DSC.

...

For some reason I imagine it opening a bit like TFF, but with Picard instead of Sybok.

ALIEN: You're ... human!
PICARD: [throws back his head and laughs]

Indeed. And each time I've seen it it's always been the same clinging onto hope that somehow the premise, pitch and details we have so far are somehow going to be reversed.

It'd be a big pop culture event at the very least. Can you imagine?

They could even bring back a few cast members from DS9 and/or VOY if they so please. A crossover event like those Destiny novels (which I have not read).

There's another relevant saying.

All good things come to he who waits.
That could be what Fuller meant.
I'm pretty sure it's just "good things come to those who wait", no "all" in it.

You seem to be reaching with that one.
Actually "all good things come to he who waits" is an English proverb, just not very good one ;)

Not my first choice either, but we'll see if they actually have an idea or not.
I've warmed to the idea since the initial announcement. I'm optimistic about the show's potential, my main gripe at the moment is that they've pigeonholed themselves regarding the types of tech they can show. In many ways, the tech of today has advanced as a result of inspiration from things seen on Star Trek. If we go back to an era in universe that was first presented in the 1960s, they won't hqve as much potential to present new tech and gadget ideas to inspire the scientists and engineers of the current generation.

As soon as God identities it as a "courtesy call," hang up. He's going to ask for money.

I don't know that setting it essentially in Kirk's time makes it a prequel to anything.

Well, that would be a canon violation - she's already first officer aboard the Enterprise at that time.

Oh Noes!

Blastr in fact has one theory behind everything they do: content-free clickbait is easy to write and drives traffic.

Shalashaska, I've removed the avatar *again*. Put it up again and I'll remove YOU.

If I was in charge of CBS' Trek programming, after reading all the negative crap from fans online ad nauseam, here's what I'd say: "Let's do one season of Discovery. If they like it, great. If not, we're done. Keep repackaging the old stuff."

If the show is good, the "negative crap" will fall away.

If it's bad, then it will justify the negativity.

Either way, there's no obligation on the part of fans to heap unconditional praise on it for fear that CBS will take the ball and go home like this.

The attitude that any Trek is better than no Trek kind of enabled Rick Berman era mediocrity.
