That is not what Star Trek is about. So it would be very disappointing ... Star Trek needs the aliens.

You cannot compare BSG with Star Trek. The story is very different. Star Trek would not work without aliens. What would the stories be about? Just exploring rocks and gas giants with personal conflicts on the star ship? Aliens in Star Trek are core to the story.

Than they're wrong. Moore's BSG got along fine without aliens. Although, one could argue the Cylons filled the role of aliens anyway. But still, Star Trek without aliens, what the hell is the point? That is a case where you might as well create your own thing, because you definitely are not doing Star Trek.
Wouldn't be interested, aliens are often the more interesting characters.
Though if there were no aliens, then there would be no need for ships to have armaments, Starfleet would be solely a scientific/exploratory institution.
This is exactly what I've been thinking. Captain as a supporting character with the first officer and support staff as the leads. It never made much sense for the bridge crew to all beam down every time they found a new planet anyways.
They should just hire Tony Todd to play every character on Discovery. 
It doesn't really matter - Moore made it abundantly clear from the initial pitch that BSG was, in essence, the Anti-Trek. There are elements form BSG that they can pickup and take inspiration from - but probably best not to copy the parts of his idea that said "Bollocks to Star Trek, lets do something else."

Great find. I agree with the article in some ways, but such a story line would have one major flaw: In the very moment, the captains name is mentioned, every trekkie will now, that he will snap very badly.

Not if they use a previously unknown name for him. Maybe he only started being called "Garth of Izar" afterwards, when he became legendary. Maybe his name was, say, "Garth Jones", and he's called "Captain Jones" until the "big reveal" (not so big if fans speculating can guess it) where somebody refers to him (in an afterthought kind of way) as simply "Garth".

As it turns out, there a report a few months back indicating Tony Todd was in talks to guest star on the show.They should just hire Tony Todd to play every character on Discovery.
