Well my point is, didn't they say they'd move in 2012 after Romney got whipped by Obama (after believing "the polls were skewed" and he was going to win)? They didn't do it. They got even crazier and more unreasonable. So who will be the guy that steps forward and says "Enough," and tells the Tea Party to stuff it? Someone is going to have to clean up the mess the GOP has become. Their primaries this year were a complete joke. Trump is a joke.

Hopefully, Trump will get fucking crushed in November and the Republican Party will finally admit that the Tea Party has been poison to the Republican party and will tell them to go away and be their own far right party and let the Republican Party attract minorities and millennials w a calmer more reasonable true conservative base.
This would be the best possible outcome of this election-- a complete split of the Republican Party. A party that focused on conservative economics while ditching the religious nuts would be a lot easier to take.

I agree.

The old fashioned conservatives who focused on fiscal responsibility, national defense, individual liberties...all that you can work with.

It's the fundies that really ratchet up the crazy and scary.

Hillary is gonna win with a comfortable majority, since the Republican primary electorate wanted to cast a pure protest vote instead of nominating a viable candidate.

I wish it were a protest vote. Unfortunately I think the vast majority of Trump supporters actually think he'd make a great president.

I experienced some of that today while at the barbershop for a haircut.

The owner of the shop is originally from Arizona, and I dread going in there around election time because she's always going on, parroting some Fox News nonsense. But I absolutely needed a haircut. So I steeled myself and hoped that Fox News wasn't blaring when I went in there. Thankfully the shop's TV's had the Olympics on, and there was no one in her chair, so she was quiet.

Then a 50-something man comes in, sits in her chair for a haircut, and it doesn't take them long to start jabbering. The Olympics went to a commercial.

"Oh great, another commercial. I hope Hillary doesn't get on there," she said. "You know, Donald Trump said that he wasn't going to run any ads during the Olympics. There was an article about it. Hillary's been running ads, but Trump said that people would rather watch the Olympics than worry about the election, so he's not going to start his ads until they're done."

"He's a smart man, I'll tell ya," the customer said. "A smart man."

"Well, he's smart in business, but not too smart in politics. I'm gonna vote for him though. He doesn't take any bullcrap, and Hillary is a snake. I don't trust her to do anything right."

"That's what makes him great! He's not a politician like all the rest of them! He's the best thing to happen to this country in years. He doesn't take any crap from anyone, and he tells it like it really is. He'll turn this country around in 6 months. Just watch. They talk about the first 100 days on the news, but give Trump 6 months and he'll fix everything Obama messed up."

I had to bite my tongue. I don't like talking politics in public, and especially since I'm early 30's and they were both in their 50's, nothing I said would've changed their minds anyway. Just 2 examples of 50-something conservatives, no real surprise. They won't matter though, because Trump will lose my state anyway (Virginia).

And if they think Trump is a "smart man," there's no hope for them.

In the final analysis, the people who typically vote Democratic will vote for Hillary, the people who typically vote Republican will vote for Trump.
With the exception of one group. That "gender gap" is going to be a CHASM this year. And they won't even be voting for Hillary because she's a woman, they'll be voting for her because she's not DONALD TRUMP.
