Just been watching the trailer for Arrival, a science fiction offering from Sicario director Denis Villeneuve.
It stars Amy Adams and appears to focus on her efforts to translate the language of aliens newly arrived on Earth.
Now the book on which the movie is based is pretty cerebral and based largely on the 'A' story of trying to translate the alien language and communicate.
The trailer suggests there has been a 'Hollywood' element added, emphasising the military response that will apparently provide the ticking clock here.
Still, it's an interestingly different take on the alien invasion concept, especially in the same year as Independence Day 2, putting in elements of Stargate and Close Encounters. I'm looking forward to this one.
