Janeway, Torres, and Tuvok as drones

Six of Twelve

A couple of thoughts about Janeway, Torres, and Tuvok as drones in Unimatrix 0.

At the end of the second part, the Doctor was able to remove most, but not all, of their implants. It was also stated that it would take Tuvok longer to recover from the experience than the two women.

I have to wonder which implants they had to keep and where they were. It was obviously not in a place that would show when clothed. And, though it wasn't mentioned or implied, I wonder if any of them needed to use a regeneration alcove, even for a short time after the experience. Tuvok would have been the most likely candidate for that. I also wonder if there were any other residual effects, such as being able to hear the voices like Picard could ever after.

The neural suppressant might have prevented being able to hear the voices in the future, at least for the women, but I wonder about Tuvok.

It didn't make sense to me that Tuvok would be the one who succumbed to the Queen and the hive mind first, as he should have had the strongest mind control of the three, being a Vulcan and all.

Oh, and I thought Torres made the coolest drone out of the group.

Perhaps chaotic emotional minds are harder for the Queen to control than a calmer logical mind?
I could maybe see the argument that the Borg collective made a sort of logical sense to Tuvok, with their order and purpose.

I thought we'd agreed to never speak of that again! :p

I like most of the Voyager Two Parters. This one I did not. If anyone wants to know my reasons I agree with Chuck over at Sci Fi Debris. He can explain it better than I can.

I imagine that the reason the Doctor could not remove all of Seven's implants was because since she was assimilated as a child she was placed in a maturation chamber so her body developed with the borg technology. The rest of the people that we know about, Picard, Janeway, Tuvok, and B'Elanna were assimilated as full grown adults and for only a short time.

I think it would have been interesting to see a follow up to their reactions to being assimilated. While their minds were not assimilated, their bodies were and that in itself is very traumatic.

Vulcans automatically have stronger minds? By the way, there was a technical reason why Tuvok was the only one who had succumbed to the hive. The Doctor gave Janeway, Tuvok and Torres each an anti-assimilation inoculation that he had developed to resist the hive and maintain their individuality. Unfortunately, Tuvok's inoculation began to degrade and the Queen was able to get into his mind.

Vulcans have different minds with different disciplines. They are also telapathic, maybe that was a factor in why his broke down and not the others. Or it was just completly random. As for the plot it had to be him. Janeway was needed to negotiate with the Queen, B'Elanna was needed to take down their sheilds, Tuvok was just there to help.

^I was also under the impression that Tuvok's telepathic abilities had something to do with why he was in more danger from the collective.

I always thought them "tricking" The Borg like that was one of the stupidest things the show ever did.

At least Tuvok actually being assimilated made up for it slightly.

I like most of the Voyager two-parters except Unimatrix Zero. Apart from Tom getting his rank back, there's not much about it that I like. The guy at Sci-fi debris and I are in agreement over this one.

One thing I liked about it, and I wish it was followed up on later, was the freed drones.

Yes, I wanted to see more of Korok and his crew of freed drones in the sphere and wished they'd traveled with Voyager for at least a few episodes. I always thought that they would have tried to meet up with other freed drones from U0 elsewhere or eventually joined with the New Borg Cooperative from Unity, or perhaps, ay some point with Hugh"s group.

In any instance, it would make a great plot for a book or fan fiction.
