Nope, in fact, I think I'll join you too in the jumping up and down part, Spider! Is it rude of me to dance up and down with joy over the news I've read in here so far? Or do I have to at least sound like I'm complaining about something?
People are already talking about the Sheliak Corporate. I didn't think Ensigns of Command was that popular of an episode.
To be honest I liked the Sheliak and I like the idea of focusing on an uncommon enemy.People are already talking about the Sheliak Corporate. I didn't think Ensigns of Command was that popular of an episode.
Still, don't forget next year is the 30th anniversary of TNG. They could do something like that in tribute.
Turnabout Intruder
Memory Alpha said:Lester's line, "Your world of starship captains doesn't admit women", was taken by some to mean that women could not yet become starship captains by this time. However, it might also mean that women are not allowed to intrude on the discipline and burden of command—an interpretation borne out by Lester's regret over not being able to have "roamed the stars" with Kirk. Captain Erika Hernandez in ENT: "Home" showed that there were female captains in the pre-Federation era but there is no firm evidence either way of female captains existing at this time. A female captain would appear 17 years later on the bridge of the USS Saratoga in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and of course Captain Kathryn Janeway would take command of the USS Voyager on Star Trek: Voyager, 102 years after this episode takes place. In addition, approximately 75 years after this episode takes place, a woman would captain the USS Enterprise itself (or rather, the USS Enterprise-C), Captain Rachel Garrett (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise").

Seriously, Star Trek: Nemesis was produced in 2003! Basically since 13 years we only have prequels, prequel-boots, recreations and inbetween-quels. Everything focussing around recreating or explaining past events. Nithing to move on from.
Still hope it will be good, but holding my breath they will eventually produce a spin-off that picks up after Nemesis![]()
There's nothing wrong with the timeline. The problem with doing a prequel is that it severely restricts the writers in what they can and cannot do.
I would hoping Discovery would be set in the movie era. I'm bummed that it isn't.so will the next Trek show after Discovery be set between TOS and TNG.![]()
I did say "severely restricts".Because heaven forbid there be any limitations on what a writer can or can't do. Clearly good stories can only be told if a writer has unlimited freedom.
