News coming 8/10?

A live blog will be put up on Variety soon, so you'll be able to follow from there.

That's rather annoyingly late at night for the Brits. Guess I have news coming 8/11 :)
It seems any time I hear "news coming today!", it always ends up being later in the day for Americans, making us wait another day.

Time zones are the worst.

I thought they were going to give more info out at Star Trek: Las Vegas, but I justed looked it up, and it happened days ago (I'm not up on convention dates and stuff). So, hopefully we will start to hear about casting and stuff soon.
Yeah, I was surprised there wasn't any news out of the convention. Back in the pre-Internet days, that was my main source of upcoming information.

One of the small bits and pieces we know so far is the director of the pilot episode is David Semel. He's done other pilots for TV shows, but the one I'm most familiar with, The Man In The High Castle, was just excellent.

I'm not sure we're supposed to post links like this, so before hand I apologize if this is against the rules. This is an interesting site (which kind of looks like a personal site) keeping a nice, searchable web page on the new series. It doesn't have much yet of course, but I thought it interesting. I found it while looking for current news on Discovery.

from THR
"Sources tell THR the rest of the cast will also feature an openly gay actor play one one of the male leads, a female admiral, a male Klingon captain, a male admiral, a male adviser and a British male doctor."
