Feel in the mood to put on an episode, any episode. I'll watch the first thing suggested. Please be kind...

Our Man Bashir and Beyond The Stars are fantastic if know context of the characters at that point in time, but not sure if AS good if random.

One of my fave fun episodes is In The Cards.

Like a lot of DS9 episodes, has a LOT of underlying heart. Plus the greatest DS9 line: 'soulless minions of orthodoxy"

EDIT: RDM said this, which does encapsulate why show works for me: Ronald D. Moore commented: "Basically we reverse the normal structure in this show, so that the A-story is the comedy and the B-story is serious. It's a fun show".

Badda Bing Badda Bang

I just watched Casino this afternoon so I've got Las Vegas mafia on the brain.

It's funny you mentioned that, I just watched that one without seeing your post. It's one of my very favourite pure fun episodes. I love the shot of the entire crew strutting to the holosuite all-dressed up while Quark and Morn look on with bemusement.

I love In the Cards too, especially the performance of the guest character and the ending where it pans to all the characters affected by Jake and Nog's good deeds.

Yeah, it's definitely one of the lighter episodes I tend to go to when I'm in that kind of mood.

I watched the Tosk one recently for first time in ages, and it struck me as both charming, touching and much funnier than I remembered. The actor who played Tosk did a really great job with body language and expression under all those prosthetics, and worked perfectly off Meaney.

I recommend Necessary Evil, because it foreshadows the Odo/Kira relationship.
If you like that sort of thing...

"For the Uniform". Sisko, obsessed over Michael Eddington's betrayal, hunts down the Maquis leader and makes a bold, controversial decision. I always loved this episode. But then again, this episode requires you to rewatch "For the Cause" so maybe a better choice would be something more self contained like "Our Man Bashir" which is the fun 007 holodeck show. Avery Brooks is hilarious as "Dr. Noah".
