The fact that they're saying they'll have something this time next year is a little odd. Are they saying we'll be getting more episodes by this time next year, or just that they won't be announcing anything until then?
I still say it won't happen for at least 5 years.

Thanks for the links, LeadHead.*
I was hoping for maybe 13 episodes for the next season, but 10 is still a good number of stories.
It looks like Aquarius is heading to the chopping block; perhaps that will free up some time in Duchovny's schedule. Anderson seems like the more in-demand and busy actor, though, so her schedule may be the thornier issue when it comes to locking down a timeframe for shooting the new season.
Given Bryan Fuller's penchant to cast her in his projects, Anderson may already have an undisclosed role in Star Trek: Discovery. If so, that may be another scheduling hurdle to overcome.

I don't know how major her character is since I never made it very far in the book, but Gillian Anderson is already in American Gods, so I don't know if she'll have time for Disocery.Anderson seems like the more in-demand and busy actor, though, so her schedule may be the thornier issue when it comes to locking down a timeframe for shooting the new season.

That would be one heck of a cross over, XF and Star Trek.
There is probably a fun story with Gary 7 in there.
With the X-File being the Ferengi visit to New Mexico.
Since IDW is the comic book publisher for both of these properties, I'm frankly surprised this crossover hasn't already happened.
"Chris Carter will once again serve as lead writer, executive producer and showrunner. There is no word on who Carter is looking at to staff the writers room for these new episodes, which will have to pick up from the cliffhanger ending of season ten."
I really hope they fix The X Files cliffhanger to the point where it's not doomsday on the planet and we get back to Season 1-6 X-Files. Evidently X-files has been on in syndication this fall and I watched some of Episode 2 (Deep Throat) and Ice again. It was so great to see Mulder and Scully investigating something rather than this conspiracy nonsense.
