Please tell us you're not so naive as to entirely believe everything a director of a large-budget movie says

Yeah, because hollywood directors are famous for not shifting blame for bad reviews whenever they can...
(looking at you Joss "everything good I did was me, everything bad I did was interference" Whedon)

Ultimately, what does it matter... if the guy accepts blame, why go out of your way to excuse him?

I'm largely in agreement with you Gaith, but I thought that the WW & JL trailers, while similar to each other, looked much brighter in colour and lighter in tone than the 2 Snyder WB movies to date.

Now, I'm not saying a WWI movie shouldn't look drab and dreary. And yes, I left out a brighter shot or two (though they were outliers). But can anyone really say those shots don't have the exact same tones and colors as BvS?

Right, you're making my argument for me. We can't necessarily take directors at their word, especially given the hundreds of millions of dollars stakes.

It's completely plausible that Ayer and Jenkins have been under orders to deliver movies that look (and, indeed, feel) like BvS. (I'd even call it probable, but that's a guess.) Whether that's indeed the case, however, or whether the markedly similar color palettes are complete coincidences, isn't public knowledge either way. Your "simple google search" assertion to the contrary was, quite simply, wrong.

Everything they've said in interviews indicates that they were giving the directors freedom to do what they wanted, and so far nothing I've seen has made me doubt that. The things you're talking about are there, but they're not specific to Snyder, they're pretty common to big actions movies these days.

According to this, a "blink and you miss it" moment in the movie reveals that SS's crap version of Harley Quinn killed Robin, not Joker. Is this movie just one big plan to make people hate Zach Snyder less in comparison? Because if so, its kind of working

It is a blink and you miss it moment. I think they are talking about the suit up moment of the movie, when Harley is talking about the voices in her head. Batman has a brief couple of moments in the film, but that's only to arrest her.

I'd concur with @Gaith: SS does tonally/visually absolutely mesh with BvS, right down to the nighttime second/third act setpieces and boring desaturation throughout.

They did a similar thing in BTAS/Batman Beyond where they made Harley apart of the Joker's attack on Robin. The original Death In the Family taking place several years before Harley was created. Subsequent writers and animators now try to fit her in to this iconic story line.
