Much like those who constantly perform excuse-making somersaults about BTS pics when compared not to a processed publicity photo, but another BTS photo.
I don't agree that it was. Different photos can differ in quality for many different reasons. All that actually matters is what the final product looks like. Criticizing the final product based on production photos is as nonsensical as criticizing a cake because you don't like the taste of the uncooked flour.

Jimmy calls Superman "the Big Guy" (has he done it more than once on Supergirl?) as much as possible, so that rubes will think that Superman is taller than Jimmy and therefore not Clark Kent.

Were the first shots costume tests or does Clark get 5 o'clock shadow at midday?
Super hair growth should be instep with their super healing factor?
But if that was true the only thing stopping them from super ageing is super immortality.
Kara and Clark are both ageing at a normal human rate, so it is unlikely that they are eternally youthful, even if they are immortal.
If Clark has super 5'Oclock shadow... Kara might have to "shave" her legs with heat vision more than 5 times a day... But what about when she lost her powers?
Fumbling with a razor for the first time on skin that is suddenly not bullet proof?

Then its jpointless to defend it to the degree where it cannot even be compares to the MoS suit under the same , BTS conditions. There's nothing "unfair" about that. Regarding the final product, I've already commented on that:

Exactly. I was criticizing the poster. I explicitly said more than once that my criticism of the poster had nothing to do with my expectations for the movie. I explicitly said more than once that I actually have a great deal of confidence about the movie and was criticizing the poster (which was made by different people, of course) because I felt it didn't live up to what I expect from the movie.
I quite like that Superman has stopped wearing his underwear over his pants.
We do not know the age of James Olsen. Which is not necessarily the same as the age of the actor who plays him. It would not surprise me if the character is supposed to be closer to his mid to late 20s.

The advantage of Tyler Hoechlin being cast in a part older than is age is potential flashbacks. No need to hide his age. At the very least I suspect the producers will add his revealed face to when Superman first discovered Kara on Earth.

They're called trunks. Like what swimmers and runners wear. The "underwear" line is an old, old joke that was not meant to be taken literally, and it wore out its welcome a very long time ago.
Indeed, since Superman's costume is meant to be worn under his street clothes, doesn't that make the whole thing underwear?
Yes, the whole idea is that Supergirl is essentially a sequel to a Superman series that never happened. All the characters are a dozen years beyond where they would've been in the early part of Superman's career. Cub reporter Jimmy Olsen has grown up into accomplished photojournalist/art director James Olsen; Daily Planet gossip columnist Cat Grant has risen to become the head of her own media empire; Lois Lane's kid sister Lucy has become a successful lawyer and Army major.
Still, lots of actors in their 30s can play 20s well enough. I'm less concerned with what his face looks like and more concerned with whether he can convey the maturity of a Superman who's been on the job for over a dozen years.
I'm not a fan of Superman or comics in general so I'm certainly not aware of what kind of comments have worn out their welcome. I always found Superman's outfit incredibly weird. I don't really care what the fandom's opinion on it is.
The only superhero I knew growing up was Asterix.
That's because the cultural referent for it is before your time. The costumes of classic superheroes like Superman and Batman were based on the outfits of circus acrobats and strongmen of the day (the 1930s-40s) -- leotards for mobility, with trunks worn over them for modesty, and often capes for showmanship. To audiences of the day, they wouldn't have looked all that odd.
This is why I like the TV Supergirl costume so much -- it looks like practical athletic wear such as a tennis dress. I'll grant that modern athletic wear for men doesn't look like the 1930s style that Superman's classic look is based on, but it certainly doesn't look like the kind of rubbery, textured alien armor that people keep putting Superman in these days. How is that not far more weird than a simple, practical leotard and trunks?

Regarding the fasteners for the cape... Doesn't anyone remember The Incredibles? LOL..
If Supes were to get sucked into a jet engine intake, he'd be fine, but the engine would explode, possibly killing everyone. If just the cape gets sucked in, the engine might be damaged, but there's potentially less damage to the plane and Superman could just hold onto it and help it land.

It's not the metal fasteners I mind so much as the weird heavy strap things going over his shoulders. They look more like overall straps or something than cape fasteners.
Then again, could that be the point? Maybe invoking his farmboy heritage in some way?
That depends on if he design/made his suit with human resources, or f it's a relic of Krypton preserved or created by the Fortress.
