Well, you could always wallow in self-pity instead of listening to other people's viewpoints.
Expressions of hope that we'll see a greater variety of people on DSC than mainly straight white males like me makes me hate myself, too.![]()
If seeing people of color and other genders achieve some small measure of proportional representation in media makes you hate yourself, that sounds like a "you" problem rather than a "we" problem. I don't feel threatened by people who look different then me or are a different gender than me getting more opportunities and the ability to redress centuries of national mistreatment and under-representation however they can.
@Locutus is a more patient person than I am and will often start from the most charitable assumption. It's not exactly clear what Shalashaska's driving at, but the statement "this thread makes my hate myself for being a white male" came hard on the heels of his complaining about people standing up to bigotry as "a pack of wolves," which might imply that it's the latter that was causative of the former and if true, that actually looks a lot worse.
It can't be that hard to come up with better reasons.
Go on, lads, keep patronizing, I love it.
I knew it'd be good, but not this good.
You. are. all. better. than. me.
