Yeah, they ain't redesigning it from the ground up because a few fans see a delta after staring at it obsessively for a week.

I love it! I've always liked the McQuarrie/Planet-of-the-Titans design and I'm glad we are gonna see it finally. Of course it's a different, more angular and crude redesign but I thinks it works perfectly as a post-ENT, pre-TOS ship. (At least I hope it's in a post-ENT, pre-TOS era!)

How is that a punishment? If they're inside it, they don't have to look at the thing! ;)
Have you seen the insides? Every single toilet is clogged... To fly this ship, you got to be crazy! The fuel system leaks all over the place! It's a piece of junk!

I see the IDIC.

The massive freakout is a little premature, I think.

After seeing it a few times I think it's actually a pretty cool design. There are interesting bits everywhere, like the "moat" around the bridge dome, the sunken area on top of the saucer allowing for more windows, the wider hangar door, hot rod ram scoops on the nacelles, etc.

There are angles in the teaser that make this ship look really sleek, not as clunky as I originally thought.

Also, the more some fans bitch about it the more I like it.

It isn't a Ralph McQuarrie design.
One of this associates tweeted and said it was designed by Ken Adam.
He simply did the illustrations.

Well, his version isn't identical to Adams' version - he revised it quite a bit.

Unfortunately, Ralph McQuarrie is no longer with us, so I can only assume that someone tweeted on behalf of him or his estate.

McQuarrie's concept art was just that. Concept. Not finished designs.

People need to calm down and wait for a trailer, so they can really start with the knee-jerk negativism. :)

I got the IDIC thing too, but I don't infer much from just a circle and triangle. Probably just a happy coincidence.

I wish there was a third choice between these two extremes. I think it looks okay, not gorgeous, nor unappealing.

^^
Based on what? I see more TMP era than anything else. Please tell me we are going back to beige as the color of the future too (trademark pending)?

To be fair, I saw the delta in about 2 seconds.

But, for my part, the only thing I'd really change about it would be a slightly larger point on the delta/bigger neck for the ship.

The saucer is the best part, and I also like the angular nacelles.

Perhaps this ship was intended as a stop gap...between the times when new uber designs were launched.

(And when new uber designs are launched, one the new ships will be named "Enterprise").
