Lost footage of TOS found in Roddenberry vault. Bluray forthcoming.

In a happy surprise from the Rod Roddenberry San Diego ComicCon panel, it was announced that Rod had culled through archives and found cut segments of Star Trek Original Series episodes, plus other behind-the-scenes bits. It will be released on a Blu-ray later in 2016 with a brand new documentary by Roger Lay, Jr (who was part of the team that did the awesome TNG and ENT Blu-ray documentaries). The full press release is after the break.
 
Day one purchase!

If they ever make the full load of footage available at a premium price, I'll pony up ever cent I've got.

So, to get the newly footage you get to buy standard Bluray versions of 12 already available episodes.

Not restored and extended ones with the new material inserted, just the ones most fans will already have...

These are deleted scenes. They were cut for one reason or another (and most of the footage, no doubt, will be of alternate takes and outtakes, not whole deleted scenes). Reinserting them into the episodes is simple revisionism.

Now, I do hope that they'll restore the original broadcast audio to these episodes. That would be a treat.
 
The cynic in me was wondering about the existence of any unsold Lincoln Enterprises film clips from the "Roddenberry Vault". :rolleyes:
 
Clearly the reason they picked those episodes is because the deleted material comes from those episodes.
I know cut material from 6 of those episodes. Day one purchase.
Edit: I see they explicitly state the material is related to those episodes. Duh. LOL.
So exciting and kind of funny as the only episode that is flawed in my Bluray sets is Corbomite. So now I will have it without rebuying an entire season.

Glad to see COTEOF on the list. Too bad there is nothing from Balance of Terror, I've always wanted to see Kirk saluting the Romulan commander.
