The Defenders--Marvel/Netflix

I wasn't countering anyone's ideas, just mentioning a key element in "team building". And maybe foster some ideas on who or what might bring them to together.

Yeah, see where I'm coming from?

Yeah, but I wasn't citing it as a desirable thing. The fact that DD insists on teasing these things until the season finale is frustrating. It'd be far more frustrating if we got 7 episodes of the heroes acting individually and just 1 episode of real interaction.

When I was talking about taking their time getting the team together before, I just meant like 2-3 episodes. I obviously want to see them working together for a lot more than just the last episode, but I also don't want to see them just throw them all together 5 minutes into the first episode.

Hopefully, it was a coincidence but it does feel like Netflix likes to wait until the last minute to reveal something of importance. We'll have to wait until Cage and Fist wraps up but as of now, I wouldn't be surprised if the team doesn't assemble until the last few episodes, regardless of how much I want to see them together now.

ETA-- Does anyone else think that the voice at the end sounded like Scott Glenn's "Stick"? That and the hand surrounding the word "Defend" make me believe that Defenders will be picking up DD S2's plot-threads.

Yeah, that definitely sounded like Scott Glenn to me. It makes sense that The Defenders will carry on Daredevil's hanging plot threads at least in part, since we're getting it in lieu of a third season for that show (for now, anyway).

They should be starting filming sometime fairly soon, right? I remember reading that Finn Jones would be pretty much jumping right into it not long after he finished Iron Fist.

Right. Iron Fist started filming right after Luke Cage wrapped, Defenders will start when Iron Fist wraps and Jessica Jones S2 will begin as soon as Defenders wraps.

Definitely heard Scott Glenn, which makes me think it'll involve the Hand (although the inclusion of Elodie Yung made me think the same thing).

So I guess we will never see the Surfer in anything because of 20th Century Fox's shitty FF movies? Not even another Guardians movie, where he'd be a terrific fit? (I would hope for a Netflix series honestly.) Sucks.

I don't know people. It ain't the Defenders really without the big guns. But I'll watch, I'm a junkie I guess.

I still wish this was called Heroes for Hire but I suppose the people in charge take issue with a title that suggests heroism that isn't altruistic, hence Defenders. I'll watch it of course.

Since they're aiming to make a street-level team Defenders evokes a sense of neighborhood that works well. While the Avengers are avenging around the world the Defenders are defending their turf.

It for sure can work in the context of "Defending one's turf". I get it. I wasn't complaining(if it appeared that way), just observing the printed vs televised difference of the monikers.

Not every one of the heroes is for hire (as demonstrated in this Deadpool variant cover). Now they aren't the comic book Defenders, but the name fits this team far more than Heroes for Hire does.

I agree--it comes off like the "anyone else we can find" line up, instead of the traditional 1st Defenders group. I will check it out, but the one thing I do not want to see is the group sort of holding back on their collective abilities, or the series pilling back on threats because of fan comparisons to the Avengers. In other words, some fans might say, "well, if the Avengers struggled against _______, the Defenders should be overwhelmed, or dead."
