a part of me wishes the new series would be set in it's own seperate universe away from the Prime and Kelvin Timelines. Like if Prime is A, Kelvin is B, let this new series be "C".

After slogging through the looong and very secretive SW: TFA pre-release period for over a year, I can go a long time without news for this new series

On Thursday, Roddenberry Entertainment’s Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth, who are both executive producers on the new CBS All Access show, warned fans not to miss the big Star Trek panel on Saturday.

“We can’t tell you what you’re going to hear there, because then they [CBS] would be mad…” said Trevor Roth.

“But we can say that it might be worth going.” Roddenberry interjected with a smile.

“We suggest you go, because you’re going to learn some stuff, you’re going to hear some announcements that I think we’re all going to be really excited about.” Roth added.

I don't think it is disrespectful to let people know basic information, like what era, or universe in a press release or two.

Looks like before the upholstery is applied, or a Cardassian torture chair.

Hopefully, it will answer some of the questions I have. I don't need many answers, just some would be nice.

You sure that's not just for the panel?

So excited!

Might even be some casting news maybe?

Fuller's tweet with the captain's chair picture read:

BUCKLE UP #SDCC @StarTrek 50th ANNIVERSARY PANEL #UnderConstruction

So no, there's no information that indicates that this is from the new show.
It might be?

In the simplest terms, much like Anovos holds the license to make uniforms, Paramount holds the licence to make movies. They hold the license/rights to the movie making.

It's like Marvel owning Spider-Man, but Fox holds the rights to his films. Which is likely a bad example as Marvel's confusing :p
Especially since Sony have the Spider-Man rights... ;)

It's looking to be pre-TOS.

I was actually thinking that was one of the major possible eras:

- Pre-TOS era

- Kelvin Timeline TOS era

- Post-Undiscovered Country

- Post-Nemesis

But I honestly did not expect them to go with that; if anything I thought contemporary to the new movies would be the way that they would go. This could be really interesting as an era - around the time the USS Kelvin was destroyed maybe. Lots of Cold War tension with the Klingons.

just look at the dish it's got the Post TOS era circular Blue Dish that should be an indication of timeline.

MacQuarrie's designs for TMP, which I said I would love to see:

And the Discovery, complete with asteroid dock:

I have no problem with it - it could be very pleasing - except I really wish the nacelles were higher on their struts.

They seem very dominant; like two giant highlighter pens. I can learn to love it though.

I would also like to note that USS Discovery NCC-1031 seems higher in registry than the USS Kelvin's NCC-0514, so it could be in the Kelvin Timeline, perhaps coming after the split.

If it takes place before the Narada arrives, it's the same thing, which is kinda genius, lol.

Because we have this great new universe/reality to explore, and they're running back to a very overused well.
As for the video and reveal, my first feeling was that I was underwhelmed. I'll reserve actual judgment until the pilot, but so far I'm not really moved yet.

Glad someone agrees with me. LOL.
