According to the IATSE873 website CBS’ new Star Trek series, codenamed Green Harvest, could start production on September 26th.

ICYMI: CBS’ new Star Trek 2017 series will be shown internationally on Netflix, but American viewers will still have to catch it on CBS All Access.

The IATSE873 or the Toronto chapter of The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Technicians website lists all the major film productions going on in Toronto. One of the productions listed is Green Harvest, which we know is a code name for CBS’ new Star Trek series.

They begin filming on my birthday. Brilliant!!

This uber secrecy as to the premise and setting of the upcoming series is starting to really piss me off. Here it is more than halfway through 2016, and we still have no clue as to whether this is a reboot, continuation of the prime universe, or set in the Abramsverse. I don't need many details, but keeping us completely in the dark is out of control.

Green Harvest = cadets in training or on first mission?
I suppose it could be a totally random code name as well. That would be the best type for secrecy.

I think Fuller said they HAVE to keep quiet until after Beyond.

By HAVE to, I mean there is some sort of contractual obligation for CBS's show not to interfere with Paramount's film.

Because they think the hype from one would detract the other, or confuse.

Could be a play on the name "Blue Harvest" which was the codename for the Star Wars movie AFAIR

IF there's new series news at SDCC I'd be surprised as the same event is hosting the STB premiere tomorrow night.

As for embargoes, it's been said hte new series cannot premiere until six months after the movie and Fuller admitted at the Saturn Awards they muzzled him, he would love to share more. But, it makes total sense to give the movie the spotlight before going onto the show.

But that's irrelevant to the fact that I bloody hope Fuller gives us something to chew on for a few weeks at least - the fact that the panel is in Hall H, he's hosting and there's a hint there will be something new series related ;) Vegas is August and New York Mission is September too, both official events (Birmingham UK October)

If we don't get any big announcements at SDCC then I'm pretty sure we'll get something at one of the Star Trek specific cons. We don't always get news for TV shows that early. We just started finding out details about next season's new shows in May, so if we follow that timeline for this, then we should start getting info either this month or next month.

Vegas is the biggest Trek con in the world, so there's an opportunity there plus New York is closer to the time of shooting as well as Toronto. Both these events are CBS-licenced/involved so I expect them to sue them to promote the show, and get people to sub to CBS AllAccess (which it seems they need to get people to subscribe to more than Netflix !!)

That's only partly accurate. In the end, it's CBS's decision only.

There seems to be prevailing fallacy that the property is split between Paramount and CBS. It isn't. It's just CBS. Paramount is nothing more than a glorified middle man.

So there is no "contractual obligation." It's simply CBS's wanting to focus on one then the other.

This topic confuses me. Could you explain more in-depth?

In the simplest terms, much like Anovos holds the license to make uniforms, Paramount holds the licence to make movies. They hold the license/rights to the movie making.

It's like Marvel owning Spider-Man, but Fox holds the rights to his films. Which is likely a bad example as Marvel's confusing :p

That's what I thought, which would mean they're a little more than just a "glorified middle man" if they own the rights to some of the most valuable properties in the franchise.

Unless CBS could decide to make their own Trek film, then Paramount would look a "glorified middle man".

They are totally out of control with their total control of information ;)

"horror beyond imagination."

I think it would be somewhat disrespectful if CBS were hyping the new series in the midst of promotion for the movie, it could distract attention.

Indeed. If it were me I'd give some breathing room between the two. The series will be plodding along nicely by now, but there'll still be elements in flux that might need time to mature and right now there's a fully finished product on the floor.

I'd personally much rather the 2017 series had a chance to take it's time and develop in silence to surprise us all in January than have Beyond's parade interrupted with news for another branch of the product.
