A friend of mine is in the "JJTrek movies don't capture the spirit of real Trek, and there's too much action and not enough ideas" camp. We just had a spirited disagreement. She says she won't be seeing Beyond.
Watching these clips (especially the new one where Kirk orders red alert), I don't know what planet these other fans are on. Thinking back to the 10 movies before the reboot, I don't know what kind of fantasy Trek they play out in their heads. These Kelvin-timeline movies pay tribute to the others in so many ways I lose count. A slick, fun update to the world and aesthetic we all love. Characters we love. Tech we love.
I just don't get the hate. And why isn't this "real" Trek? Sigh.

I think it's safe to take all reviews with a grain of salt.
This one likes it and says the final battle in the highlight of the movie.
I read a few that said the final act was a bit of a let down.

Well, we need 80 reviews on RT to get a consensus.
Seems to be trickling in very slowly at this stage.
Wow, putting clips of "Plato's Stepchildren" in it to remind us how great TOS always was is kind of brilliant.

Looks safe to me. Many of the scenes we've already seen, but a couple of new shots and bit are there. I don;t see anything spoilerish about it. It's f'n amazing, honestly. Four more days....

Some small spoilers in there surprisingly (listening to it now). Watch as Mantz deduces the meaning of the ship being in space 966 days. Pegg reveals quite some thought was put behind elements we see in the movie, from the music and motorcycle linking the other movies as well as Spock's arc and Spock Prime.
