Picard's jacket

This is the coolest uniform in all of Trek in my opinion. I prefer the leather version but both look really great. I also love Kirk's green tunic. It really stands out and makes Kirk look like the boss.

I see Picard in that smoking jacket I always think of Christopher Walken in his jacket.

I always thought that the uniforms worn First Contact and beyond looked like they would be hot and uncomfortable to wear.

Wasn't the jacket P. Stewarts request?
I think so. That's what I heard.

The First Contact ones look fine to me. The red tunics on the other hand look hot, formal and uncomfortable. Imagine wearing a turtleneck with a business suit and belt on the outside.

Which series uniforms do any of you think look the least uncomfortable? They are all problematic in their own ways.

Well Enterprise's uniforms looked practical, with all the zips and everything. I just thought the overall design was a bit blah.

It all depends on material. In the 24th century they'll have amazing fabrics. I have this long-sleeve button-up dress shirt that's so breathable I keep cooler than wearing my tank tops.

IMO, they're "blah" in the way NASA uniforms are...

Well the style itself is a good, realistic evolution on the NASA uniforms, the colour was muted. I know they had the primary colour stripes denoting which area of the ship they work in, but something a bit more brighter and alive like the TOS tops would have been nicer.

I also thought they should have had rank insignia on the arm like in TOS, but that may be nitpicking.

I like other uniforms better but I think the ones worn on "Enterprise" are the most realistic. I can't imagine people actually wearing TOS or TNG uniforms.

I like the leather one better, but I'll go out on a limb and say maybe it was too shiny for blue/green screen.

Like the leather one better because you can see the stiching more easily, but the sheen was too high.

Except, they NEVER used the pockets, and the ship was nowhere near NASA primitive. For me I just found them incongruous.

Additionally because the shoulder stripe and rank pips echoed TNG's Federation instead of a pre-TOS United Earth. Maybe they should have used air force insignia like on Stargate, pre Federation.

It's a shame we never saw Picard in a skant, now I think about it. That would have been better for warmer climates, and he could keep the jacket for the cold.

Actually with one 'main character' exception (Reed, who in TOS would have worn Command colors), they did follow the command "gold", engineering "red" and medical/science "other" (which I think should have been cyan not teal to make it more TOS-like) they did follow TOS colors rather than TNG era. And the enlisted insignia where somewhat similar to (half) a USAF-style rank patch (a no-rank option exists in addition to the 1, 2 or 3 'ticks' so it's not based on naval SR/SA/SN stripes (despite this being a common fanon assumption).

I'm pretty sure we did: The dress uniform was essentially a skant/dress which he wore with tights to greet Lwaxanna Troi and she compliments him on his legs.
