For the most part, yeah. I'm sure someone somewhere knows that Lord Alec will never get his movie made thanks to C/P, but they know that with all the controversy, they can put out a click-bait piece and then watch the money roll in.

As long as his ego gets stroked, its probably all the same to him

Still a better love story than Twilight....

^ There comes a point in time when obsession goes a little too far. I don't like Alec either. But with this sort of stuff, we start to stoop to the Axalites' level.
I agree. I don't get it, is it supposed to be funny or just aggressively unpleasant?

This is all fairly odd, because wasn't Newsweek one of the few MSM outlets to run a pretty decent story about the Axanar case last month? What changed at Newsweek HQ?

Here is the actual article. It's pretty neutral. http://www.newsweek.com/star-trek-fan-fiction-451320
it's actually a very balanced article stating BOTH sides' situation and opinions. Looks like Newsweek can still do ACTUAL balanced articles still.

Interestingly, they didn't mention the comment JJ Abrams made at the ST:B fan event about "I have it on good authority the lawsuit will be going away..." - so it may be by now everyone realizes JJ Abrams wasn't speaking directly for the C/P legal team. Or that JJ Abrams meant: "We've gotten Paramount to offer a settlement to Axanar; which I expect they'll take and the case will go away..."
^^^
If it's the latter, I'll bet JJ Abrams and Justin Lin are now both aware just how much Alec Peters is out of touch with reality when it comes to 'Axanar'.

The article was written on 4/22/16. The "Beyond" fan event was in May....
