Oh, isn't that rich? Why the blazes did he not heed his own advice?Wait, what? He talked with CBS about fan films? But didn't he say in the court documents that they refused to talk with him (or anyone) about fan films, forcing everyone to fly blind? And if he had already talked with CBS, why was he posting here on Trek-BBS begging for guidance and rules?
Well.... he is an Alec and the Smart Alecs do things like that.

As I understand it, after STC announced their project, a number of people went in and "squatted" on various likely FB page names. When STC went to set up their FB page, all the good names were taken. To avoid confusion with other "STC"-resembling pages, they adopted the *official* FB page of STC. They only used the term "official" in relation to their FB page. For example, their website never contained "official."

After a while, you get so caught up in your own projects it's hard to keep up with everyone else.

Watching this merely underlines the missed opportunity AP passed over. If Prelude To Axanar had been taken as the essential template for the actual feature it just might have been something worthwhile.

If someone behaves like a jackass then chances are good it's not the first time.
The past is the past, As Kirk would say, "As a doctor, you of all people should be aware of the dangers of reopening old wounds." Chalk it up to major fan/brand loyalty and leave it to that.

I'm reminded of a former coworker who showed himself to be an ass to most everyone. Then we hired someone else who used to work with said "ass" worker. This new worker soon enough informed us the "ass" was the same way at his previous job.

Every boss hires one sooner or latter.
I even know where one of the STC hit pages are but the day I took it over it became something else.

Newsweek is apparently the latest "mainstream" media outlet to get suckered by AP and company. On the Axanar fan page, there is a picture of AP holding open the mag to a story headlined "The Ultimate Fan Fiction". One of the posters asked how that could be since nothing's been made yet. Good question. Someone said the mag would surely become a collector's item. I agreed, but maybe not for the reason they were thinking. Anyway, I don't know how to do a screencap so anyone who hasn't been banned who knows how to do that can take care of it, if the spirit moves.

ETA: AP "liked" my "no doubt" comment.

On a Windows machine, open the page in the active window, hit Alt-PrintScreen, then open MS Paint and use Ctrl-V to paste the image.

Yep, and that's just the nature of the business. It's not about what is and isn't true. Facts don't matter when there's a meatier narrative to tell, and that narrative is that CBS/P has stepped on this poor little fan production just wanting to make a labor of love. They don't need details that matter, they need fluff, with lots of histrionics and woe-is-me, and no one tells a sob story like Alec.

But surely the "ultimate" fan film could not exist at all until the last Trek fan drew their last breath. To the astute reader, the article must describe a delusional claim.
