Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday

Saga

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
(hope its ok to create a separate thread for this)

i only started playing STO a couple months ago. at level 55 i was getting frustrated by all the various battleships (Malon, Voth, Jem Hadar, Vorgon) that kept kicking my butt, so this expansion is a breath of fresh air.

so far i've only played AoY up to the early Gorn/Romulan mission. is everyone else liking AoY thus far?

The difficulty of opponents does increase especially after you reach the Delta Quadrant. This is mostly because they have more hitpoints and a special attack that you need to watch for and counter. For example, the Vadwaar have an artillery attack that does a lot of damage, but can be evaded by constantly moving at top speed.

I haven't started yet, but I'm giddy. I'm trying to get the stuff (Obsidian Cane, Breen BOFF, Reman BOFF, and another device) for my four Captains by the 14th. Once I do that I'll create my 23rd century officer....then I'm on a mission to save 600 EC for my Kelvin Constitution class vessel.

Meanwhile, I may have three of my Fed Officers flying the Vorgon ship. Although, my Vulcan Engineer is doing pretty well in her Assault Cruiser; she may do even better since I have an idea of a new build.

My Romulan has enough dilithium to buy a new vessel now, but I'm still undecided.

Strangely the expansion is out and I still have no urge to dive back in yet. I can do that anytime, but not yet.

I'm free, I'm finally free!!! :rommie:

Is there a time limit on how long you can create 23rd century characters?

Nope.

This is a new season, and the 23rd century character you create is for said season and beyond; he (or she) is there for the duration of your gameplay.

While that is true, only characters created in the first 6 weeks will benefit from temporal recruits benefits (like the delta recruits)

My laptop is to low-spec to properly play STO anymore. Combat (both land and space) is laggy af for me. And I can only play in the lowest graphic settings. So if and when I get a better laptop, I might reinstall and start all over again. For now, I really can't be bothered with STO anymore. It's become way to repetative, and the only way to really get ahead is spend hours and hours of getting enough material and shit to get better equipment, which I really can't be bothered with. Thanks, but no thanks. As soon as you get above level 50, the game gets to a point where you really NEED to invest either money or loads of time for better gear, and it's no longer fun as casual entertainment.

I am not that much of a Star Trek Online fan but I decided to play the game yesterday as I really wanted to try out AoY (I don't want to use Yesterday two times in a sentence).
To be honest what started out as something very sweet eventually left me rather disappointed.

The 23th Century campaign is basically 6 missions big and after the last mission you are send to the Online's 25th century campaign (though I understand there are some missions later on included among the old missions), so for those who hope you get to play a full 23th century campaign with future follow up seasons like me you will end up disappointed. I also rather disliked that so many missions were time travel oriented, a couple are not so bad (it created some fun mystery atmosphere) but basically after the first mission it is just time travel this and time travel that.
It makes me wish someone made a full 23th century SP or MMO game with out time travel (or only from that point in time back to the past.

Ahhh...

I came across someone who felt the same way about MMPORGs; they felt it repetitive in regards to doing the same missions or going through the same process of getting gear or 'power ups.'

I actually use STO as therapy. It helps me relax, save for times when lag gets into my gameplay.

It's not for everyone.

Been watching on YouTube (and saw Relativity recently) - would anyone else like to see STAR TREK: Temporal Agents as an animated series?

i was really disappointed by it too. those missions were a lot of fun. but then it wants you to just start over? nope. not gonna do that.

Indeed, I was pretty disappointed when I found that out. "That's it? We don't get to have more adventures in this time period?"
I hope the developer seriously expands it, adding tiers, ships, and missions to this era as it is as more people want to explore it further.
Right now it is just a gimmick to get new people to sign on.
