NEW Wand Company TOS Communicator Demonstration Video

Thanks for the "heads up". I didn't realize they finally reached the market.

I just placed my order through "Think Geek".

I just got mine yesterday, after having pre-ordered it last fall, and waiting through several postponed release dates. As a replica, it is absolutely stunning, but one thing I thought was odd was that the "chirp" is very short, basically just a single chirp, rather than the more familiar double-chirp. Is this considered "correct"? Honestly, it's a bit disappointing to me.

You can hear it in this video, particularly at 00:18:

You can hear what sounds like a triple chirp at 11 seconds in when he first opens it. Close from what I remember. Also, I think during the series the chirp wasn't consistent, sometimes short, sometimes longer.

The chirp at :11 is exactly the same as the one at :18, three quick tones, whereas I'm more used to hearing six or seven. Though I agree, TOS was far from consistent.

Hi, I'm new here. Hi everyone. I hope this thread isn't too old to jump on.
I do like the look of this and am really tempted to get it. It occurred to me that it could be paired with a PC in the same way as a bluetooth headset. It further occurred to me that it could be used with Voice Attack. This program uses Windows' speech-to-text functionality to listen to what you say and launch programs, press keyboard buttons or play sound clips. It is the sound clips that I'm interested in here.
It would be possible to create a voice attack profile so that it responded in various ways to phrases such as "Kirk to Enterprise" (or even "<your name> to Enterprise").
It could have a series of responses setup, and you could have a number of ways of replying to these responses and basically have a conversation with someone in the crew.
There's another utility named "HCS Orion" featuring William Shatner that works together with Voice Attack. Its designed to work with games such as Elite Dangerous, however you could chat with Shatner's Orion without loading the game. Someone could also create a licensed Voice Attack profile along the lines of what I've been thinking about above, where they license some sound clips from CBS or whoever and then trigger them with phrases.
Just a thought, and I have no affiliation with CBS, Elite Dangerous, Voice Attack or HCS Sound Packs. I just thought it could expand the functionality of the Wand Communicator.
I still want one :)

Silly question, but presumably they spent most of the money on scanning the prop, choosing materials and manufacturing the external features? The bluetooth-ness is lovely and everything (as are the in-built voices) but I'm not sure how often I'd use those features. Similarly I suppose I could setup the idea I had in my previous post simply using a bluetooth headset.
What I'm saying is that I like the look of this device due to its feel if that makes sense. The moire pattern spinner is nice as well.
