Marvel/Netflix Daredevil season 2.

Actually I read it (and wish I hadn't :p). Just wanted a kinda snippy way to show my dismissal of his points.

^ I believe I will, thank you. As an MCU completist, it'll hurt, but at some point even a loyal fan's got to stand up for himself and his viewing time. :)

I liked Daredevil, Seasons 1 and 2. There are worse MCU products out there (IMO), but I'm a completionist as well, and intend to keep watching them all. Jessica Jones completely blew Daredevil Season 2 out of the water, there's no doubt about that, and DS2 had a frenetic pace of 3 episode arcs throughout the season, instead of one overarching storyline like in Season 1.

So, there are good and bad when it comes to DS2. It's possible that the Hand itself was beyond the purview of the show's creators, and (assuming the Hand is not involved) The Defenders won't suffer from this setback. It'll be a shorter mini-series, with stronger characters, and perhaps a good villain. If it's bad, it's bad, but you shouldn't let one story (poorly plotted, in your opinion) determine all future projects overseen by the same creators. Give them a chance to refine their game.

Of course you read it; that was obvious. And you pretty much indicated you had no worthwhile counter-arguments to my points. ;)

My mind is always open. If I read that Daredevil significantly improves, I'll consider giving it another shot, and I'll probably give The Defenders a go regardless. But I have a hard time grokking how so many of us could have watched the conclusion to season, with all its many loose ends, dull ninja fights in generic cavernous sewers and pathetic rooftop finale, and argue it wasn't a total mess. (Next season, stay tuned for MCU "dead" character resurrection #58! Elektra's return from the undiscovered country will blow our minds!)

(One more example: yes, Bernthal was great. But am I supposed to think his finding a cabin full of weapons is super-dramatic and exciting when he started the season with an apartment full of guns? Sure, those particular pieces were probably seized/lost. But the direction and music were blaring "GET IT? HE'S THE PUNISHER NOW!!", even though his very first appearance was equally Punish-y, and his resolve never changed or wavered since then. Sloppy and trite, amigos, sloppy and trite!)

Fairly random question, but I was just looking on Amazon at upcoming DVD/Blu ray releases, and "Netflix only" shows like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Narcos all get released on DVD like any other show would. But for some reason Daredevil and Jessica Jones don't seem to have had a physical media release. I just wondered if there was a reason for this?
I can understand if it's to make more people have to subscribe to Netflix to be able to watch them, but then why release those others on DVD?

I think that the Hand are the big bad that brings the Defenders together into a unit. It's way too much for just DareDevil to handle. And why else would they even affiliate. I think this season was the set up season like Iron Man 2 was the set up movie. I think it suffered a bit for it, but I still think it was great, I'm not sorry I watched and I'm waiting for more.

Back in episode 5 or 6 I saw that Clancy Brown was playing the Colonel and I couldn't quite believe that he was a good guy for a change, I guess I was right after all. Was there a Blacksmith in the comics? I don't remember one. I'm really looking forward to November 2017.

Netflix doesn't actually make those shows, they pay other production companies to make them, and they make different deals with different companies for different shows.

Just guessing, but Netflix only became available worldwide early this year, prior to that they probably had looser exclusivity deals because shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black even aired on regular television in territories where Netflix wasn't available.

Oh, he's played a number of good guys in his career, from Rawhide in Buckaroo Banzai to John Danziger in Earth 2 to Captain Black on Jackie Chan Adventures to George Stacy on The Spectacular Spider-Man to August Corbin on Sleepy Hollow. That's why it was such good casting -- he could've gone either way.

I didn't realize that was him in Buckaroo Bonzai, it's been so long since I've seen it. And I wasn't counting roles as a crustacean (Eugene Krabbs).

Isn't Mr. Krabs kind of a bad guy? Maybe not out-and-out evil, but about as antagonistic as your typical comedy boss.

I wasn't sure what category to put Red Hulk in either, since he's a Hulked-out Thunderbolt Ross.

He also plays a nurturing father figure in Cowboys and Aliens.

He's done good guys yes... but the common assumption in most folks mind is a bad guy because he's so good at them. Like Sean Bean doesn't actually always die dramatically

Exactly. Netflix being a streaming service, doesn't change the 'mechanics' behind the making and distribution of first run shows. For some reason, Marvel/Disney haven't given disc releases for the first two shows. Their decision is not within Netflix's control though. Each studio is free to put any of their shows 'airing' on Netflix on disc after a (usual) minimum 6-8 months after first debuting.

I only remembered yesterday that Kingpin is Thor.

Seriously.

How could they not have made a joke about that in Daredevil Season 1?
