Wow so the TMP style poster is appearing in theatres (not just an exclusive fan thing for the 50th event). Its 1979 again!
It looks like Sledgehammer just came out on Tidal. I don't have a subscription so it plays only a 30 second preview but what I heard sounds promising.
I can see where they are going with this. Pretty simple: Rihanna is a marketing tool here: many Rihanna fans will se the trailer for Star Trek Beyond because of the new song and many will be curious about the movie so. They are targeting a crowd with this trailer that it isn't associated with Star Trek fans. Good move
Same here. I know many purists most likely won't think a rihanna song is appropriate for a Star trek movie. But from that trailer, Beyond looks to be a visually stunning movie. The shots of the starbase were breathtaking. And the outer space shots were gorgeous. And Kirk's line about it being his last log as captain of the enterprise with that shot of the damaged saucer gave me chills. The movie definitely looks very promising.

aww this trailer almost has me in tears to see George Kirk's face again. I can't wait for this movie.
