Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

STID made a half-hearted effort to make a single, but this is the first time in history a major pop artist has had a single on a trek sound track.

Shit, that's surprisingly good.

I was surprised there wasn't a Beyond trailer with Independence Day: Resurrection when I saw it last night.

You can't "overdo" ...
Anything can be overdone. When something is sincere, that's great and supportive. When it's a fad, it's mindless; without depth of thought or reason. When it is done as a cynical market ploy, it's called pandering and insults both the movement and the audience. While Star Wars might have been sincere, there will be plenty of faddish imitators only out to sell you a ticket. That's when it's overdone.

Over at Trekmovie, 80% of votes rated the 2nd trailer an A or A+ out of over 5,000 votes overall.

Anyone knows roughly how many times the 2nd trailer has been viewed?

I wanted that song, and I can't find it anywhere to buy. I was trying to find mp3 version for download. I always loved that song.

The main trailer was viewed 17.8 million times. Another one was over 5 million. I think the total for all the videos was a minimum of 25 million.

I hope they show Star Trek TAS, during the breaks!
(Always loved the cartoons between features when I was young!)

Tempting, but my problem is that my body doesn't have the rear padding to take that many hours in one of the normal theater seats (and my local theater with comfortable recliner seats isn't doing the marathon).

My word, it's only two movies prior to Beyond. With all this talk of catheters, adult diapers and urinating in soft drink cups, you'd almost think they were marathoning all twelve previous films. I mean come on, people went to see marathons of all the first two LOTR films prior to its third one, the first two Hobbit movies prior to the third, and the first two Nolan Batman movies prior to The Dark Knight Rises, and in those cases those movies were an hour longer than the Star Trek ones. To say nothing of the marathons of all six Star Wars movies prior to The Force Awakens.

You're all a bunch of lightweights.

Did I-IV 'marathon' back In '87 at a local cinema (I remember seeing the ad for it in a local comic store and was like I gotta go to that!)

It was great as back then buying films (on vhs) wasn't the norm (too expensive) so really you just had to wait for them to come on tv (and tape them off there if you had a home video recorder - which I didn't). TMP id never even seen on the big screen just once on tv (and tvs wernt that great back then were they) so that was an event in itself. II had seen in 82 but was way too young to appreciate it, and once or twice on tv a few years later. id seen III twice in 84 and had forgotten most of it so this was almost like seeing it for the first time again. and IV had seen a couple of times already but that was ok as I couldn't get enough of it. :) Wasn't many in the cinema (there was group of 3 or 4 guys dressed in TWOK uniforms and a couple of other people) There was a mini auction in between films featuring a signed IV movie poster (think it had been signed by Shatner and or nimoy so there was abit of excitement and bidding on that), signed photos, props (can't recall what but remember one was ridiculously outpriced) etc and the comic store had set up a minishop featuring all its trek movie stuff (think I recall getting a Trek II fold out poster magazine)

I have to admit, I never would have thought of Rihanna doing a song for a Star Trek movie. I'm glad they picked someone I like. Has anybody said whether or not we'll be getting a Beyond themed video for it?

Me too. I was also expecting Suicide Squad or Tarzan and was disappointed we didn't get any of them.
