Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

That's the example I thought of when I was posting. Point is, I think those other brand names have not become generic terms, not widespread anyway.

Everyone I've ever known called a flying disc a Frisbee and a tube one tries to keep rotating around their hips a Hula Hoop. It might only be an American thing, since those names were coined here by Wham-O.

The spelling "Frisbee" was trademarked by Wham-O, but the name is a bit older than that.

Closer to topic - liked this bit from the interview:

PS: Do any of those buttons on the Enterprise set do anything?

SP: One calls for pizza, but we’re not sure which one it is. Occasionally pizzas just turn up and we know that someone’s pressed it, but it isn’t clear. They actually all work. If you press things, they light up. But nothing causes the spaceship to fly.

It looks like we're getting a Rihanna song for STB

this is the first ST film to get a 'song' then (unless u count TFF uhuras moon song lol)
Depends on how you mean it. ST09 and STID both had songs created especially for the film, as did ST4 and ST5 (as you mentioned.)

STID made a half-hearted effort to make a single, but this is the first time in history a major pop artist has had a single on a trek sound track.

Spock's expression in this poster is scary. he reminds me of Angelus, the main villain of Buffy The Vampire Slayer in season 2.

I see paramount is really pushing Jaylah as a main highlight for the film, I hope her character is a sucess with fans and critics and I personally hope they don't over do the girl power thing like Disney did with Rey in Star Wars 7.

Huh??? She was a strong smart female character. They didn't overdo it at all.

Have we all forgotten about Shaun Cassidy then?

Bullshit. You can't "overdo" girl power. Plus, Rey's character in TFA is nothing less than amazing. Star Trek Beyond would be lucky to get Jaylah even half as cool as Rey.

As for the Rihanna song: as I said in the other thread; what a nice surprise to see her connected to Star Trek. I'm really curious what the song will sound like.

I guess The Rolling Stones weren't available. What? Skews too old?

I'd love it if the credits for her song said something like, "Parts based on 'Star Trek' TV theme, music and lyrics by Alexander Courage and Gene Roddenberry."
