Star Trek just can't appeal to kids like Star Wars and (Marvel) heroes can (and Disney will make sure they always will).
So toy companies don't see the point in making Star Trek toys you can "play" with, instead choosing to go the "adult collector" route (which, to be fair, gets us high-quality products such as the Official Starships Collection)

It's based on the TOS movies but is being released alongside Beyond, so I'm going to say the new spin master Enterprise quadcopter counts, and is what I'm excited for. Do gif's work?

They do work (as long as the filesize isn't too large - keep it under a Mb and you should be good) but you'll want to be sure to A) host the image (on Photobucket, Imgur, etc.) rather than hotlinking from someone else's page, or B) save it to your computer and upload it to TrekBBS, using the "Upload a File" button below the text entry box.

It counts maybe as far as general or 50th anniversary stuff goes (there's a lot of that stuff this year), but there still is hardly anything actually connected to Beyond out there.

The clock is ticking before it becomes a moot point...

Whoa... Is this the first toy Enterprise that flies like that?
I'm not a huge fan of the Air Hogs toys, but I might just have to look into this. :techman:

Yeah, it's the first officially licensed flying enterprise. It looks fantastic. I just don't know why it's the Enterprise - A. Did the license cost slightly less if they called it the "A" ? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I've never got any airhogs or quadcopters either but when they came out with the Millenium Falcon last year I thought "Imagine an enterprise like that!" And now here it is. I'm going to have to buy one - an overpriced toy to be sure, but my 12 year old self would never forgive me for not buying one.

Obviously, what you do now is buy one of each and make them dog-fight.

I'm sure that'd be a pretty successful youtube video.

Of course, we all know the Falcon wouldn't stand a chance.

Well, the Enterprise could do a TWOK and hack the Falcon's codes. Not much hacking in the SW universe!

Anovos is doing kits of the hand phasers. Yay!

It's $300 for an unbuilt, unpainted kit with no electronics whatsoever. $400 if you want the servo that flips from stun to kill. :shifty: Oh, and they don't even start shipping until November. Mega-pass. Diamond, please get your new phasers out soon!

(They're also doing neat ID/Beyond Starfleet patches for $15 which is much more reasonably priced.)

    Chicken--egg

Trek ships were hidden with toy cars instead of getting their own unique bubble packs. When that was done for Trek's 50th--they gave us cars instead of ships. on those stand alone bubble packs. That was never done for Star Wars ships--them being disguised with other products.

I hear what you are saying--but a lot of this is bad decision making. Like when too many pod racers were made for SW prequels. Remember that one?

    Case in point:

Gizmodo and io9 look to suffer over the Gawker/Hogan deal.

For those of you in Canada, the Enterprise quadcopter which has been available to pre-order in the US for a July 1st release date is now available in Canada as well, with a release date of August 2nd and price of $160. That's actually a little less than the US price ($130 usd) based on the current dollar value, although it sucks we have to wait the extra month, especially since the company making them is Canadian.

Sometimes I think CBS licensing just uses the "A" designation to clearly indicate that it's the TOS movieverse version.

Glad the actors had fun. This kind of game makes sense as part of the VR trend to avoid the motion-sickness problem by having players seated.
I just wish those character models looked a bit better. If you're stuck on the bridge for most of the game, that issue will become pretty noticable. :(

The quadcopter is now available on Amazon for pre order, but at $20 more than toys r us.

Edit: Toysrus actually has the pre-order on sale for another $17 off, making this about $37 CAD less than Amazon's (and, after conversion, $19 USD less than US prices).
