Wouldn't Native Kryptonians Speak English With An Accent?

This occurred to me this morning as I was reading some of the DC Rebirth titles. Kara grew up on Krypton speaking Kryptonian, yet when we hear her speak English on TV or in movies she speaks English with an American accent. So do many other Kryptonians we've seen in live action depictions. Aside from Superman, who grew up on Earth, wouldn't all Kryptonians have some kind of accent when they spoke English?

Depends on how they learned the language. Some people can speak other languages without a trace of accent; Kryptonians, being natural geniuses, can probably do it even easier than we can.

Besides, what would a Kryptonian accent sound like, anyway?

This is a good point. But they can't all be geniuses, can they?

This is something I'd love to see explored. We've never even heard a hint of spoken Kryptonian language before, have we? It would be interesting to see linguists develop something.

Not just geniuses...

My Grandmother and her sister were from England, they both married men from the US, soldiers during WW2 and came to the United States together after getting married. They lived not to far from each other for the majority of the time they were alive. My Grandmother didn't have a hint of her English accent, you would have never known. However my Great Aunt sounded like she just stepped off the boat from England.

If a native Kryptonian has 5 fingers on each of its 2 hands, 2 eyes (which are either brown, blue or green) 2 ears, a nose, a mouth, hair that is either black, brown, red, or blonde... Then they can "realistically" have any accent that suits the country their target audience is for.

Otherwise, it's probably Russian sounding. Obviously.

My Stepfather has been in Canada since the 70s and he still has his accent. My Mother-in-Law came to Canada from the Netherlands when she was 5 and sounds just like the rest of us. I imagine the younger a person is when they move to a new country with a new language or accent the more likely they will end up sounding the same.

Good Kryptonians = Midwestern American
Bad Kryptonians = English (or subset thereof)

This is mostly true, but Michael Shannon was an evil Kryptonian and sounded American and Jor-El was a good Kryptonian but sounded British.

I think the Kryptonian accent should sound like Daffy Duck. Only Supermanwho was raised here and Supergirl who spent her teen years here should speak without it.

Would you have found Zod threatening if he sounded like Daffy Duck?

I think just picking actors with accents North Americans aren't familiar with would be a good way to go. Kind of like casting an Israeli actress to Play Wonder Woman.
