David Tennant would be an interesting choice, certainly casting against type for your typical Starfleet captain, but maybe it's time for a quirkier less straight laced captain.
No, I've watched the story evolve over the decades from "what would Dr King do?" to "a phone call from Dr. King." to "a face to face with Dr. KIng". Stories often grow in the telling. So I don't think of it as a lie. I would like nothing more than for Dr. King to be a Trek fan, that would be cool beyond belief. But nothing I've read by Dr. King hiumself seems to indicate this was true. And as I pointed out, there are much better examples of African-Americans in non stereotypical roles than Uhura on Star Trek. Roles that predate Star Trek and are co-starring parts. Roles in shows much more successfull than Star Trek.
"White" has always been a mutable concept, changing depending on timeframe and location. In America the Irish, Jews, Eastern European and Southern Europeans were deemed not "white" at times. There may still be areas of the country where this is still "true".Talking about skin colour rather than ethnicity might skew the numbers. Isn't Siritis at least partly Greek, and do people of Jewish descent count as white because their skin is light? I recall my Nan being offended watching an episode of TNG that featured Leah Brahms alongside Geordi, Worf, Ensign Rager, and April Grace's transporter chief. Diversity is a bit limitedi n Trek. They probably needed more asian and south asian characters but the lack of women outside the 2:1 main cast is more notable. Trek needs 50/50 this time round. Other shows are managing it.
if it true that he's going to portray the new captain of the series, I wonder if a) he'll be able to get some of his old co-workers from Firefly and Castle (I wouldn't mind seeing him work again with Stana Katic) a guest role. and b) his characters name will have a J in it. (I.E. Jonathan Archer, James T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, John Harriman, Kathryn Janeway).I hear Nathan Fillion might be looking for a job soon....
People were already horrified when I suggested five division colors, so I don't see many people liking that idea. I made Power Rangers, you made flesh muppets. They could go with an all alien cast of characters, where they are all blue, green, purple, red, and yellow. Personally I would love to see that.
Or multiple colored species (and multiple colors within a species), but just have a single uniform color, including no colored "piping."But I'd actually like that, combine your skin colors with my division colors
What do you mean "if it's true"?if it true that he's going to portray the new captain of the series, I wonder if a) he'll be able to get some of his old co-workers from Firefly and Castle (I wouldn't mind seeing him work again with Stana Katic) a guest role. and b) his characters name will have a J in it. (I.E. Jonathan Archer, James T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, John Harriman, Kathryn Janeway).
If Nathan Fillion were on the show, it's likely he would be the only well known actor, with lessor known actors in other roles. He would command a fairly big pay check.I wonder if a) he'll be able to get some of his old co-workers from Firefly and Castle
What part of this phrase is hard for you to understand? If I said "if it's true that the sets are going to be painted blue ..." this would be beyond your kin? What do you mean "if it's true"?
I'm saying where do you get this idea of it being true? What part of this phrase is hard for you to understand? If I said "if it's true that the sets are going to be painted blue ..." this would be beyond your kin?
While Khan was supposedly a Indian, I've always questioned whether he was a Sikh. He didn't wear the typical beard, and McGivers didn't impress me as being knowledgeable about ... really anything. He has also played a Sikh like Khan before in The English Patient:
