Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Here's a close-up of the image used for Sulu's daughter:

That could actually be a picture of a young Jacqueline Kim. She looks a lot like the Demora Sulu from Generations.

Kor, I've seen The Great Escape innumerable times. I know The Great Escape. The Great Escape is a favorite of mine. Kor, equating the motorcycle jump in the Star Trek Beyond trailer to Steve McQueen's work in The Great Escape is like Dan Quayle equating himself to John F. Kennedy. It is no Great Escape.

I don't expect Star Trek Beyond to be better than The Great Escape, but I honestly don't know yet since I haven't seen Beyond.

I do wonder about the Enterprise...

The saucer goes down mostly intact. I wonder if it is paired with a new stardrive section so it can keep its 1701 registry?

Um, no. Look at the screencaps, the saucer is utterly fubar'd.

Apart from the damage the swarm inflict, it comes down in a mountain range, smashed and flayed like crazy, it's a complete wreck.

The topside looked intact enough for Kirk to slide down it, phaser blasting. But my thinking is that we have a completely new Enterprise.

And if the bar scene is indeed from the end of the movie, given Kirk's smile, they get a new Enterprise.

Kirk's could have been grabbed at Yorktown so definitely new
Nahh it's on the ship. From the ET interview thing, where Pine was showing off the armory. It's definitely not the old one, and the bulge towards the front on the phaser pistols there lines up with the grilled bulge on the closeups of the new one.

You can also see McCoy holding one on whatever planet they're on, in the new images put out today. TrekCore's got all of the new stuff here.

To go back to the dirt bike thing for a moment. I'm not to bothered by it, this is supposed to be our future after all, so it's not totally ridiculous for modern things like that to still be around. We already know Kirk rides motorcycles after the first movie, so it's not a new skill or interest that is suddenly being dumped into the third movie out of nowhere.

It would be a tough salvage. However, it's probably a HAZMAT site, so someone will have to clean it up, either way.

Somewhere along the way in the interviews and coverage so far, someone said that the Enterprise gets "nearly" destroyed.

Also, what is that momentary shot in the trailer just after the 'bad robot' logo. Kirk is in silhouette looking at the Enterprise in dock. Looks to me like VERY extensive work being done. Makes me wonder if they do a recovery and a rebuild and then at the end it's Kirk and company looking up at the finished result....LIKE new.

That's the scene from ST09 where Kirk visits the Enterprise construction site at Riverside the day before he enlists in Starfleet.
