You predicted that Defense would not file an Answer until the very last minute, or perhaps miss the deadline entirely. But then just 48 hours later .......

I realize you were being humorous there. Definitely! And I think I remember that part being accompanied by 'I think' and/or 'I suspect' 'I speculate'
And, well, that's the thing isn't it. We aren't actual participants in it. So none of us really know do we. LOL
The more educated of us in the legal matters and personal knowledge of the defendant give us more educated possibilities to consider, speculations. The gatherers of verified & verifiable facts give us more with which to educate ourselves with for clearer insight. The non-educated in legal matters or personal knowledge of the defendant among us (-->me<--) are conversing and speculating from our own interested though somewhat limited knowledge perspectives. Ditto for those among us with legal and personal knowledge falling somewhere in between.
So, I'm on the lowest end of that spectrum, absolutely. And I find myself thoroughly enjoying my attempts to learn bits and pieces of How Stuff Works in the legal world related to IP as well as this defendant and case. The lawsuit was the impetus, the point I began my interest in this knowledge. Then I sometimes come to my own tentative speculations as I learn a bit more here and there.
Which I sometimes revise or discard after some new information comes to my attention, or those more learned that I give me information showing my line of thinking to be inaccurate in some way.
And sometimes I do not. LOLOL
Which, btw, the part in this week's podcast about the speculation on the Mr. Abrams thing had me thinking 'Hmmm... I can see that.'
And that observation I completely missed about Mr. Lin sitting silent the whole time Mr. Abrams was talking about this? Vedy vedy interestink.
There are several voices I'm particularly fond of reading because of verifiable facts and better informed information they offer. Others I enjoy reading offer well thought out speculations allowing me to following their train of thought. Which often leads me to more researching in The Google School of Law. Finding cases supporting the information, sometimes not as much as I would have expected..... which then leads me down new corridors in questioning and learning.... and sometimes personal mindwalks into new speculations of my own. Then repeat repeat repeat.
It's becoming sort of like what will in the end be a small and short lived study course in something that gives indications to be possibly primed to have great impact on part of this world of Trek that I love. Periodically interspersed with dollops of sadness or hilarity, sometimes jaw dropping incredulity at the.... well, you know.
And while I use the information I get from the legal knowledge of some, and the facts I learn from others, the prior knowledge I get from those previously involved with this particular litigant, and the possibilities/speculations expressed by others ..... that leads my own further inquiries into more information, I do continue to think for myself in how I feel or think about this matter.... and the players in it.
Oh, yeah, and what's 'really' got my interest right now is what's going to happen with this counter claim that's on the table!
