VI would be another cool one for them to give a nuTrek make over - just swap Chang for Krall and the little Klingons ships for whatever these new ones are (IDW redid VI with TNG for The Last Generation)

I think the big problem with Krall's character is we're still not sure what he's all about. There's the frontier pushing back line in the first teaser, but beyond that, little else. Does he reflect the general motivations of an entire people, or are they just personal ones? It does seem odd to put an actor like Elba behind all that makeup, too. I hope they didn't waste him.

I actually like the idea of the swarm after I heard Lin's reasoning behind it. In a December interview, he said:

That helps the Swarm, somewhat, but this is just my reaction to the trailer as a whole. It doesn't give me a sense of the bad guys motives, their drive or anything like that. They are just bad.

Also, I echo the worry that Elba was wasted. He's a talented actor so I'm hoping that shows through the make-up.
I don't see that as a problem. I'd rather learn all these things when I see the movie, not from the trailers.
While I'm normally not the cynic on a trailer because trailers are edited by a separate company, this is one aspect of the new trailer that was problematic for me. The Swarm feel very bad and that's it. Am I invested in them? No. Do I see their point? Again, no.

Despite the negative opinion of the first trailer I at least had a better sense of Krall and the Swarm from that one than this one.

I'll still see the film, but as far as trailers go, it doesn't hit me.

It's possible that the outdoor shots we've seen of the Yorktown are actually not on a planet, but within the Starbase itself. If it has what appears to be an atmosphere then perhaps it's simulated or designed to be like a planet. And in one of the exterior shots in the trailer we see what looks like a Megastructure in the sky. If the Franklin is flying in toward the Yorktown that might explain the "crash" scenes we saw.

I like the concept of the swarm. In all of Star Trek the enemies they face are within the realm of being beatable. Even if they were more powerful than the Ferdeation or the Enterprise crew it was not by much.

I would like to see them face a race of aliens so powerful that it would be like humans stomping on an anthill.

These are the three main sources I saw for the video: The collective favorable likes are 19.132 to 805 dislikes.

Any others?

Um, the Borg, at least from the outset. Not to open that can of worms, but originally, that was the Borg.

I don't mind seeing more powerful aliens, and Lin's concept of them will be interesting to see. But, my point is, the trailer does little to inform me as to their capability other than mass destruction. Maybe that's interesting to others, but it isn't to me.

There's also one from Slash from Guns and Roses. Nice to see Paramount pushing the 50 years.

Some reviews:

From the new trailer, it's clear Beyond is continuing the action trend, but fans should be excited. The visuals are nothing short of stunning, and you can already tell the writing will be moving and enjoyable. Let's face it - the Enterprise has never looked this good.

I loved the trailer. Loved it! It garnered almost the same enthusiasm from me when I watched it as when I saw the trailer to ST09. I love the "Prime" universe AND the JJReboot universe. I love the cast. I love the aesthetics and the tech and how everything looks like an updated extension of TOS. I'm excited to see this! And that TMP-style poster!!!! Awesome!

People who say this isn't "real Trek", or who say "Axanar is better" blah blah...if they boycott this film, it'll be a drop in the bucket in terms of box office impact. Bring on Beyond this summer!

Yeah, but they soon took the stinger out of the Borg. I'm thinking of an alien power so strong it makes the Borg seem impotent.

The trailer does interest me to the point where I want to know more!

Any others? [..snip...]
Notice the second and third have almost the same # of dislikes despite the later having nearly twice as many views--and the first has a disproportional amount. This tells me the same cluster of whiners are going around disliking every one.

@Firebird Next film, instead of Beasties, the teaser should use the opening to "Welcome to the Jungle."

I had to plug my laptop into my 60' curved 4k tv to watch the trailer. Looks amazing, are they going to release the movie in 4k? I can't remember.
