CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I don't think Peters is blind to it at all. I think he knows exactly what he's doing, but his extreme narcissism and general dumbfuck assholery prevent him from allowing himself to be a goddamn adult and own up to the havoc he's wrought. Because he has the demeanor and general psychology of a five-year old, if he can take down his enemies (STC) with him, so much the better as far as he is concerned.

It reminds me of a scene from Arrested Development:

Alec Peters is in denial; of this there can be absolutely no doubt but he is likewise absolutely aware of what damage he is causing. He won't let up on the fascist approach to banning his "haters" from the Axanar Fan Group because it will shatter whatever semblance he is able to maintain that he has any hope of victory in the court of public opinion. He'll shit all over the Abrams films as being "Not Star Trek" but will flip that right the fuck 180 degrees around to cash in on what was most likely a grievously uninformed Justin Lin making a single Tweet in defense of fandom, because its just one more feather in his cap as far as he's concerned. He won't shut up because he's afraid, but he also won't shut up because he thinks the rules don't apply to him and in his own private, insular world, he thinks he's right. He's a big fat bully fish in a tiny droplet of a pond, and in his mind he is the hero of his own story.

In short - Alec Peters knows exactly what he's doing. It's why those of us he has burned or rubbed the wrong way all these years are savoring the long overdue downfall of this petulant man-child.
No argument from me on the points you raise, especially the bully part. I doubt AP would have the testicular fortitude to say the things he's said online to people's faces in person. I've seen people put in the hospital for such public displays saying the wrong thing to the wrong person. Please note that's not in any way a threat offered on my part.

When this dipshit ends up in a soup kitchen line, it'll only be a matter of time before he spouts off and some bum cleans his clock........

Ha, I'm the co-creator of Trek Prop Zone, when my friend Roger (RIP) first started it, helped him and Mark build the site. ;) Kevin is great guy. We had him on set at STR in 2013, ironically it was a day after Alec was on set. It they came the same day it might have been a battle royale :) Always a lot of heated battles in the prop community I noticed.
How many of those battles involve AP?

Could be. Depends on what CBS/P and L&L's plans are and what the jury decides. Make an example of AP leaving him destitute cradling one of his phaser props in a dirty alley?

I was thinking of it as something akin to "Work for hire". If it was made for Ares specifically to handle their production, I figure it'd be theirs under "work for hire"

Fantasy. This sounds like incitement at a Trump rally.
Apropos, as Alec Peters once compared himself to Donald Trump when someone brought up his previous failed business ventures (ending in bankruptcy.) It was at that point in a reply her stated Donald Trump had gone through four bankruptcies; but was still considered a great businessman; and that bankruptcy was an aspect of doing business.

Wow. In my head you sound like Tony Soprano. And that's very cool.

Because incitement to violence is okay so long as it's the other guy you don't like or it's not real to you - a form of entertainment by invoking a fiction upon a real person and calling it "cool." The protections afforded to everyone, once stripped, leave you unprotected as well.

Terry was never an employee of Axanar Productions, and spent his own time and money to develop Ares Digital.

Posted on CBS vs. Axanar, allegedly quoting Alec Peters: "We refunded less than a dozen small donations as a courtesy. But then some of those donors, most notably Sandy Greenberg, chose to start attacking Axanar online rather than go away. Thus the "Sandy Greenberg" rule. No refunds, which is aligned with both Kickstarter and Indiegogo rules."

So, there it is. The reason they can't/won't offer refunds is because someone complained about them.

This just in: refunds issued by a corporation automatically invoke settlement-grade confidentiality/non-disparagement agreements without any prior notice or refundee consent. Law of the land declared by His Royal Highness Emperor of the UFP, BFA Esq.

and thus a class action lawsuit or perhaps consultation with a state agency.

Nah. That isn't likely to happen. People will complain on the Internet. So it goes.

That damn Sandy Greenberg... didn't s/he read the fine print?!
