Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

Did Barry Flash out of there in front of him? If so, I missed that.

When Zoom ran off with Henry, Barry unthinkingly sped out after him, a trail of Flash lightning following him. The final shot of the scene held on Wally as he looked back at Barry's suddenly empty chair, a look of realization dawning on his face.

But something does not add up about that. The man in the iron mask seems way too skinny to be John Wesley Shipp.

That's because they wouldn't pay the actual actor to appear in a scene where his face doesn't appear and his voice isn't heard. The guy in the mask is an extra, so he won't necessarily be a perfect physical match for whoever the character is supposed to be. (Remember how everyone thought that the guy in the Zoom mask was Shipp because of the shape of his eyes and his bone structure? Turns out it was a stuntman named Ryan Handley. It presumably still is Handley when the mask is on.)

Also it appears the 1990 version of the Flash exists on its own Earth. Would that mean John would play 3 different characters? I LOVE John but that would seem a bit contrived in order to get him to play all these different characters.

It's not officially confirmed that that 1990 Flash is part of the Berlantimultiverse. Sure, it was suggested by the glimpse of him we got in Barry's dimensional crossover, but that could've been just an in-joke. Everything beyond that is just fandom jumping to conclusions.

I'd say his presence in the dimensional tunnel does confirm he's in the Berlantimultiverse. However, that doesn't mean he'll ever be anything more than an Easter egg.

One minor thing that is more important to me than it maybe should be.

If the man in the iron mask is the real Jay, Earth 2 Henry Allen, I really hope he goes with the traditional Jay Garrick costume that Hunter was running around in. It would work perfectly well I think, since the helmet is supposed to be a soldier's cap on Earth 2, and Jay would be the right age.

Otherwise, another good one if a bit telegraphed in the climax. They're really pressing hard on this "Wally wants to be a superhero like the Flash" plotline. Katie Cassidy absolutely needs to come back and play Black Siren more - this convinced me for sure that it was the writing letting her down as Laurel. Maybe somewhat also that she's better at playing villainous/edgy characters; there was a real sense of fun about Black Siren.

A bit disappointed with the "you're not a metahuman" bit with Jessie, hopefully that turns out false. Really liked the moment between her and Harry when her earmuffs were failing.

I got the impression that the scene where her earmuffs were failing was intended to point to something. The earmuffs were working fine on Wells, it was only Jesse that was in pain. Perhaps, something has changed in Jesse as a result of getting hit by the dark matter that made her more sensitive. This would explain why the earmuffs were not enough to protect her.

Oh, that could be. I asumed it was just a random failure on their part and I thought I saw the blue light go out on them, allowing another moment where we could see Harry's dedication to his daughter. And we didn't see any followup later on. But your suggestion could certainty be the case.

A single data point never confirms anything without corroboration. The "con-" in "confirm" means "together" -- it means, literally, to make something firmer by adding more to it. (Stronger together, as they said on Krypton.) So a single piece of evidence can only suggest something. By definition, it takes additional evidence to confirm it.

After all, the first Trickster episode in this series used photos and footage from the '90 Flash to represent events that had happened in Earth-1's history, a different reality. It repurposed that imagery to mean something different than it had originally. So you can't automatically take it literally when one show uses stock footage from a different show. (Like, say, those three first-season episodes of the Bill Bixby Incredible Hulk that were built around stock footage from Universal movies.)

Not just the helmet. The leather jacket Jay wore as the Flash was part of the military uniform as well. Probably the pants too. I think Jay/Hunter's Flash uniform was pretty much just his father's military uniform with wings and a lightning-bolt motif added.

No, because Jessie was protected once Wells put his own headphones on her. His pair worked on both of them, her pair didn't. So the difference was between the headphones, not the wearers. Wells rigged them up in a hurry and the second pair just didn't work right.

This cinches it for me. The man in the iron mask is Jay Garrick - the Earth 2 version of Henry Allen. This way we'll have older Jay Garrick as was most common in the comics; Shipp as still a recurring part of the show; and Shipp as Flash again.

I thought of that. But the problem is there's a Barry Allen on Earth 2, or did they only refer him as Barry only?

Wait...didn't the E2 Iris use the Allen name?

It was a decent episode last night, but I kind of wish Henry's death didn't feel tacked on. I mean everyone is there being all happy, and you just know something bad is going to happen, and I kinda wish they held that off until the finale where if Henry was going to die, it would be in the process of him actually doing something rather than just it happening just because...

Overall though, I liked the episode. Don't know anything about Laurel but I liked Black Siren here and hope she comes back. I also liked seeing Reverb and Killer Frost (Yes I know it was our Earth 1 heroes cosplaying) again, and that was a pretty good scene. However, why do I get the sense that this finale should be like 90 minutes long? There's one episode left and I feel like there's a whole lot left to clean up about this season. I think everyone has a handle one the man in the iron mask, but I really hope they explain the how and why behind that whole storyline. The last few episodes, it's felt like the writers have forgot about him and I kinda wished we would have gotten the reveal at the end of last night's episode kind of the way they ended most of the Season 1 episodes with a teaser to next week. Seemed like a perfect time for it.

Hopefully the finale is good. This season has been mostly decent with some Meh parts, and I don't really feel the excitement heading into the finale this year like I did last summer when I was watching Season 1. Maybe there really was a sophomore slump.

I had a crazy thought earlier today. The Flash would go back to E2 (is that breach they created a few weeks back still open) and time travel back to a time when Hunter was a kid and prevent his mother's murder. Boom! No Zoom :)

Except for the time remnant who would still do all the damage up to that point.

In retrospect, Barry's friends should really be in some hidden location. Otherwise, Zoom could snap all their necks when Barry is out saving someone.

Only thing we can be sure on with Jay and Zoom, he is not a source to be trusted to tell the truth. One of the producers said after the reveal that Jay was Zoom that much of what he has told the others about Earth 2 is a lie. Unless it's been backed up with evidence we have seen and backed up by Wells anything else we think we know about his real past could be a lie.

I'm wondering about Security at Star Labs. It seems like Zoom can go in and out of the premises and no one seems worried about it. And why only capture Caitlyn. Zoom has been really confusing as to what his plan actually is lately.

The whole situation with STAR Labs has bugged me for a long time. Younwould think the government would have closed the place down a long time ago. Or at least have close watch on what happens there.

An admitted criminal left it to Barry in his Will. It only seems to have two current employees Caitlin and Cisco. Yet it's this huge facility, it would need huge security. I genuinely love this show but the writing is very lazy. They get so focused on the long term plot lines they never deal with basic details that could be explained with a line or two of dialogue. To help establish how this city works.

I am curious about the finale. The promo shows the Flash and Zoom racing each other which seems like a misdirection. The finale can't just be about them having a race, can it? Surely Zoom isn't going to surrender just because he loses a race!
