Independence Day - Resurgence

Catholics and other Christian denominations have been in the mass media for years, and portrayed in various ways, both offensive and inoffensive. And whether they as a group are offended or not by St. Peter's being destroyed seems to have little bearing on what Hollywood actually does.

Yes, because we Catholics don't threaten the filmmakers with fatwas every time one of them depicts all priests as child molesters or bigots.

:wtf:

Is that true? Last time i remember people were losing their shit when the first A lister got 20 million and that became the go to salary for A lister and big bockbusters. People now call for 50?? :wtf::wtf:
The studios are starting to routinely make $1 billion off of these blockbusters, so why shouldn't the stars also get a raise?

Because studios can be cheap and you'd have to be either named Cruise, Depp or Smith to actually be that bold.

I just did a quick check and the highest standard level is still around 20 million with the occasional break up to 30-35 for single roles such as Johnny Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean or Mel Gibson for Lethal Weapon 4 but Smith asking for 50 million to be in this one seems too high unless that included a percentage of the profits which is not unusual and can substantially increase the pay if the movie is a big hit.

Still.. that's a nice payout for 4-6 weeks of moderate to hard work followed by months of down time for some, others dive right into the next project.

Meh, certain actors still carry enough clout to drive people to go and see a movie specifically because they are in it. That's why certain actors get paid as much as they do. It's also why many professional athletes are paid as well as they are, because they generate billions of dollars in profit for their respective sports leagues.

I heard he wanted 40 million, maybe he wanted 50 million for two ID sequels.

However I also heard he didn't like doing sequels (Bad Boys and MIB I guess don't count.). I heard he was just too busy, and I heard he didn't want to do another sci-fi movie after After Earth flopped.

So your guess is as good as anyones.

I remember enjoying The Silent Zone, but that was nearly 20 years ago. It focuses on Dr. Okun's arrival at Area 51. I also enjoyed the novelization. I seem to recall it going more in-depth on how the virus worked.

Yeah, I was a little surprised when the ESD site was a part of GoArmy.com. Since the ESD uses fighter jets, I would have thought the Navy or Air Force would have made more sense. I do find it a little scary that they are using cross promotion with a movie to try get people to join the military, but I guess you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

I don't think this is the first time this has happened.

Didn't this also happen with the movie Top Gun?

Its a shame Independence Day uk wasn't rereleased. Hearing about Patrick Moore in a fist fight with an alien would be awesome.

We have a new 4:46 minute extended trailer.

The more I see of this the better it looks. I have to admit, I was kind of doubtful when I first heard they had plans for an Independence Day sequel, but once again I've been proven wrong, this looks great.

It looks like all the other trailers shoved into one with a few extra seconds of new bits.

Not that that is bad or anything.

More than a few seconds. There are large chunks we haven't seen before or greatly expanded on.

Sounds like I better not watch it. I hate trailers that give away the entire movie. I don't want to know the three act structure going in.

It's not giving away the entire movie. I'm pretty sure almost nothing beyond the first alien attack has been shown. Having said that, the trailers have probably covered the first half of the movie. Nothing shown so far has given me a clue how humans are fighting back or how the attack would end.
