Do You Consider Q a Villain?

I'd say he's more of an anti-hero than anything else. Sort of like Deadpool. Or maybe an anti-villian; I can never really tell the difference.

Whichever he was, he was clearly more of a mischevious imp who did what he did just to keep from being colossally bored. He had no real agenda other than to entertain himself. And for a villain to be a real villain in my eyes, they have to have some sort of agenda against the protagonists or those close to them.

Yeah he's more of a mischievous jester, not really a clear-cut villain.

I don't think Q is a villain. I believe he's intrigued by humanity. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't he reveal, in one episode that the Q forsee Humanity becoming more powerful than themselves in the future?

Also consider Quinn's wish for suicide due to outright boredom. Q amuses himself by pestering Picard etc, so he actually wants them to be around, so he can entertain himself maybe.

A teacher? Possibly. A royal pain in the backside? Definitely. A villain? I don't think so.

He's not a villain, no. At Encounter At Farpoint, the Q-Who episode and All Good Things his mission is clearly to slap humanity across the face so as they can reach their full potential.

He suffers from some inconsistent writing as particular sets of writers during the run have interpreted him simply as a mischievous character. But the way the series is bookended, Q clearly has an overarching goal of getting humanity to wake up and improve itself.

Yes he is. He is doing clearly evil things, thus he is a villain. If a rapist in a movie saves a baby from a fire, the guy is still a rapist.

So if someone murders someone else just for fun, he is not a villain?

I'm not sure I agree. The Enterprise almost got assimilated by the Borg in Q Who because of him. Several crewmembers were actually lost to the Collective. Was anyone in any real danger in QPid?

Q Probably saved the federation.

The Borg were already pokeing around Federation and romulan space at that point, yet the Federation had no idea what was comeing for them. Q Pretty gave them a intelligence windfall.

He's what is known in the theatrical trade as a 'Trickster God'. Somewhat mischievous, sometimes benevolent sometimes malevolent, a chaotic element designed to contrast to a sea of calm.

So the answer is, yes he's sometimes a villain, but no, at other times he is not. ;)
