Agents of SHIELD: Season 3 - Discussion (SPOILERS LIKELY)

Googled the character - in the comics, he's called JT, and they've referred to him as James so far - it's not so much his powers so far, but the fact he generates the powers through a chain in the trailer that indicates he is supposed to be a version of the Hellfire character.

As I was watching the episode, I thought for sure that Mac was going to die. While I love Coulson and the others, I believe that Mac has truly become the heart of the team. His character has grown so much as well as the actor who plays him.
I was wondering the same thing during that scene, but I'm not sure if they'd actually have Daisy kill one of the other main characters like that.
That confrontation between the two of them was a great scene.
I was little surprised that Hive's big plan was the turn everyone into Inhumans, but then I realized that would basically allow him to control everyone in the world.
The flashback to Hive's creation was a cool little scene, and not something I actually expected to see.
The scene with May and James was fun.

The guy in the trailer is the Australian guy that May pumped for information and then beat up in this episode. He has Gambit-like explosive powers and has been trying to pick a nickname, and he might've suggested Hellfire as one of the options, but I don't know. I'm not familiar with that as the name of a Marvel character.
It's Hellfire. His name in the show is "James." In the comic, his name is J.T. James (which stands for James T. James).

AV Club commenters are saying that the male operations agent that called May "Cavalry" first appeared in that story's Bahrain flashback last year. And was anyone else getting a Vasquez vibe from the woman? (I knew a female Marine named Vasquez once, and couldn't help asking her if she'd seen Aliens. She not only hadn't, but hadn't heard of the character. I told her she totally had to.)

Lincoln had a pretty good week, I thought. But Coulson's gotta fire him now, right?

Seeing grizzled, older John Hannah makes me really want another Mummy sequel that ignores TotDE, and brings back Weisz.

Finally: looking for Hive in Dolores Park, Phil? We San Franciscans are welcoming, sure, but not that welcoming. :p

(Also, the surveillance shot before that was of the Bethesda Terrace, from the end of The Avengers.)

IMDB confirms that Agent O'Brien from Tuesday's episode was also in the episode Melinda last year.

She's literally DEO Agent Vasquez from Supergirl if that helps give that vibe.

I thought that looked like the same actress, although her hair was a bit longer here than it was in her last few Supergirl appearances of the season.

Although of course I assume Alidar Jarok meant Vasquez from Aliens, and no, I wasn't reminded of that Vasquez at all, since she was a lot tougher and edgier, while this character seemed more relaxed and sardonic.

Yeah, she reminded me more of Hudson than Vasquez.

I'm the one who said the quote, Gaith is the one who asked if anyone was getting that vibe (and he definitely meant Aliens since he said as much. I just wanted to point out where she was from).

Well, the one thing that Hive-Ward feared the most didn't turn out to be much of a threat. Maybe Kree warriors aren't at their best after a thousand years of stasis. Probably should have had a cup of coffee and a shower before joining the battle.

But Hive-Ward does seem to be well-nigh unstoppable. Well nigh! Maybe the purpose of the space voyage in the premonition is to dump him in space or drop him in the sun or something. The question would be how to immobilize him long enough to accomplish that.

"Freeze Ray!" (ZAP)

Actually I think if they still had that inhuman kid who could cause things to freeze from earlier in the series he would sure be handy now...
