While I registered a few months ago, I've been lurking for a while now. I have been enjoying and learning a lot all the way back from the very 1st thread.

Fulfilling your Hippocratic Oath isn't a defense against homophobia or any other form of bigotry.

Unless you're proposing that doctors can not be racist, sexist, or homophobic because they treat the illnesses of minorities, women, or LGBTs.

Between the pro-gay rants by the same individuals, I am clearly NOT the one pushing an agenda.

In the current media climate, I am merely advocating for the EXACT position of the American Academy of Pediatrics with respect to screen time and exposure of children to overt violence, sexuality, and language in film.

I was at a major university medical center risking my own life while treating dying homosexual males BEFORE AIDS was even in the medical lexicon. I think snakes would more likely be admonished to retract their forked tongue rather than put it down. It would get dusty.

Entangling the thread in inflammatory sidebars has been the internet troll SOP ever since Usenet days. Unfortunately, sincere posters who simply don't get it about how much of a problem this behavior can be, who don't know they are doing it, can also have the effect.

Motive, who knows? It could be useful to Axanar to stick a spoke in the wheels of a communication point of analytic thought about their behavior. But no way to know and I wouldn't just assume this.

edit: look at prior post to this one for PR value of such sidebar diversions, intentional or just spontaneous...

I would just limit the time spent trying to debate sidebars, especially with folks who have just arrived and want to open such issues in the Axanar thread. Not silence anything, but just express a desire to stay on topic after a modest discussion.

Guys, don't let bones pull a Trump here by being so inflammatory as to become the focus. He's said his piece—repeatedly and ad nauseam and with zero flexibility—and trying to argue with him when he's clearly not listening is not doing anything but encouraging circling the drain.
 
When a parent sees "Star Trek" on a label, they need to know that the content does not have excessive violence, sexual content, or foul language. Otherwise, why expose your kids to the content at all?

The behavior of professional film makers in this thread shows the wisdom of the American Academy of Pediatrics positions on child development. AAP clearly states that screen time limits should be imposed. The development of children is adversely impacted and harmed by content being actively advocated by a "handful" of the "professional film makers" in this discussion.

I do not object to filmmakers expressing themselves. I just object when content is improperly labelled and contains sexually graphic content which is then accessible to children. There should be no debate on this.

On the topic of CBS v. Axanar, the discussion above is relevant because the one or two people who were most vocal about shutting down fan films are in fact individuals who appear to be antagonistic to family friendly entertainment being the hallmark of the Star Trek property.

If this thread is being reviewed by CBS employees, management, or legal; I urge CBS to please hold to family friendly entertainment on All Access. Parents need to know that when the "Star Trek" trademark is on a product, the product is truly consistent with the Tiffany Network's standards.

I was going to say, there's pie? Because I've been here quite a while, and I like pie, and I've never gotten pie. We do need pie, goes with the coffee (the latter reference never gets old).
