CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Alec Peters wouldn't know actual journalism from a spleen venting.

As to the fanfilm awards, some of the judges were not fans, but I don't know how the nominees were chosen.

They're getting bought out by Paramount to form a new division to make Star Trek anthology movies à la Star Wars - a matching theme to the CBS anthology plans for the new TV series.

Startup Trekker

In a world where all characters are fans,
And IP litters the ground for the taking,
He was an insider.
One Man with the vision to buy his hero's costume.
One Man with the guts to write his own character's story.
One Man, one star, one Ax,
...and tar

I think we found our opening line.
BTW, can I steal that........
Thank you

Submitted works, I believe they had to meet a release date and an IMDB listing so it was fairly open to include to everyone, which was a positive.
Yes, but is every submitted work a nominee? That was my point. I know the winners were chosen by ranked choice voting.

I don't know that for sure Maurice, I was on a different project this year when it came up but it sure seemed like it. I believe the rules were spelled out and posted.

I'm not sure that there was a formal submission procedure. Our releases were public knowledge, and every single one of our 2015 releases appeared on the nominated list. From that, there were finalists selected by the selection committee. As I understand it, the ranked choice voting selected the winner. In the case of Starship Tristan "Moving Day," Eric posted in the Tristan group:

Twelve films were considered for the Short Form category. Of those twelve, eleven received at least one vote from one of the eight judges. Of those eleven, only two films received votes from five of the eight judges. Of the five judges who voted for "Moving Day," one voted it first place, three voted it second place and one voted it third place. The other film that received votes from five judges was voted first place by one judge, second place by one and third place by three. "Moving Day"'s score was four points higher than the second-place film's score. All of which is a long way of saying, "Moving Day" was well-received and well-scored by the judges, and won the category by a very safe margin. So once again, congratulations to all who were involved.

So I'm not sure exactly how it worked. We've been very busy with our current releases as we finish up the final season of Project: Potemkin and release new episodes from three of our new productions: Starship Deimos, Starship Tristan and Battlecruiser Kupok.

Big announcement?

In all fairness, it is a good picture of Boomer.

Thanks for the link... Gave me this interesting and amusing segment
I usually work from home till about 11am and then go to Diana’s apartment

On that basis, open season on Alec/Diana 1 jokes

In addition, it also states:
While we are not shooting Axanar, it’s critical we rent out the soundstage and green screen so we can continue to pay the $ 15,000 a month in rent and utilities.

Does that mean they are subleasing the studio?
