Hasn't this tired old lie been throughly disproven? The executives in New York loved the idea of a female first officer, they just wanted the role to be recast with someone better than Majel Barrett.

oh is that what really happened? I just heard the original story.
 
Yikes, there's an awful lot of Cushman in that piece. And -- surprise, surprise -- a lot of what he has to say is a crock of shit!
 
What I predicted seems to be coming true. Cash got himself recognized by the Smithsonian. I should have never talked him up. :mad::sigh::thumbdown:
The Smithsonian is only running an excerpt from the new book, "50 Year Mission", so it's not quite that bad.
