Restored picture of Enterprise first arrival.

Imagine if it had been hit by a truck just then.
I pondered the same thing in an earlier thread. One can tell that's a driveway slope. If a large vehicle, say a truck, were parked to the photographer's left, a driver intending to use that entrance may not have seen the miniature until it was too late! Question is, even if insurance might have covered the damages (how would you report that?!), would the team have had time to construct a replacement? They may have been stuck using the 3 foot model and we likely would not be arguing over the lighting design for the warp drive domes today. (Instead, we'd be debating the proper shade of "copper".)

Shrinkage :wah:
Well, hopefully it's still able to perform adequately at the crucial times when it is needed. If not, that would lead to a lot of inconvenience and frustration.

I mean, because the energy shields couldn't deflect space dust, stray radiation and whatnot. :alienblush:

Ah, but based on the sources I have seen, the date those street photos were taken (December 29th, 1964) WAS in fact a Tuesday.:)
Damn. You know, I considered doing the due diligence with some research before posting, but I got lazy.

Serves me right.

Hey, shouldn't it be "AliensAteMyBuick?"

Nice "Generations" reference, nevertheless.

It SHOULD be aliensatemybuick, but I made an error when creating a profile on another board, and when I registered here, I figured I'd be consistent since I use both for Trek-related discussion.

I thought that might be the case ;)

Any more pics for me to restore? LOL

That was before the bris.

What I wonder about, and hasn't been brought here or the other recent thread that ran the similarly close shot as the first one shown by the OP, is what might have been the impressions of someone seeing this, walking down the street? Given an idea by one of the boffins around as to its upcoming use, do posters think that some at least might have had a presentiment, even to a slight degree, of the immense piece of the development of the televised sf form that they were gazing at, to say nothing of a global popular cultural phenomenon that might be soon aborning? How long was it out on the street? There certainly could of been a number of people that passed by, a decent percentage still living. Of course, anyone online can claim to have been such an incredibly fortunate individual, but for those whose claim is actually in earnest, it would be fascinating to hear their impressions, as it was likely something they would never forget.

Thoughts?
