New series: Enterprise-B or -C?

Captain Incompetent or Captain Dead Woman Walking?

Just kidding. Enterprise-B is fully untapped. We know nothing about it beyond the fact Kirk "died" on its maiden voyage.

Just like how there was never another Enterprise after its destruction in The Search for Spock?

Oh... wait...

Fuller was clearly referring to the Reliant from TWOK. Your own post quoting him said as much.

And anyway, the new show isn't going to be about the Reliant. Or the Enterprise-B. Or the Enterprise-C.

lol Tosk.

But just to clarify: It was nobody's idea. Meyer just made a comment that he compared Fuller's ideas to the politics seen in TUC, and all of a sudden everyone and his brother now thinks we're getting a post-TUC show.
It's so pervasive I was beginning to think I missed something, another source. All he said was he wanted to pick up in tone from TUC which is hardly surprising given that was the last thing he made Trek wise. From that we've suddenly got a basically confirmed movie era post TUC series. Something of a leap I feel.

As big of a deal as some people make of Paramount owning the movies, therefore CBS can't spin off something from them, it seems the same would apply to Star Trek VI.

Nope, the pre-JJ movies are all from before the CBS/Paramount split and belong in the same IP as the rest of Star Trek. The argument over Paramount owning the movies and CBS not being able to use them is about the new JJ movies created after the split with CBS.

He didn't say that, the interviewer/source added that in so certain readers who don't know the names of every starship in the Trek universe could understand what ship it was and where it appeared before.

Okay. You seem to know it all.

Do we REALLY want to know???

I don't think a Trek series has to be embodied by the name Enterprise, in order for the show to work. If they did use 1701-B, count me out of this series. Excelsior was too ugly of a ship to be considered in a series, and also it's been seen waay too many times through TNG universe.
I'm expecting the Showrunner to bring something new to the table.

So are you implying that he wants to make a series about the nuReliant?

Okay. You seem to know it all.

Never claimed that I know it all. I just know about this.

Can you imagine selling an E-B or -C series?
You've seen the Original Series
Not the recent reboot movies, the original one. You know, the cheesy one. He's not called Dr Sp- oh never mind, yeah, that one. But the movies they made a bit later, really.
You've seen the Next Generation
Yeah, the one with the bald guy and the one with the hairband over his eyes.
Now in amazing HD, experience the few years in between!
Witness thrilling transitions from one series to another!
Witness characters who already have extensive Wiki articles in their earlier days!
Learn how largely blue touchscreens turned to pastel colour shades!
Only on CBS All Access.

Enterprise B and C are not happening, just "too Star Trek-y" as Paramount/Simon Pegg once put it, but when the creator/exec producer/showrunner has mentioned wanting to make a show set aboard the Reliant twice in the recent past, then yeah, it's wholly possible.

A small sticker on a Blu-ray disc does not explain everything.
Of course not. But we don't really know who owns the stuff involved in those first ten films.
Paramount still has the distribution rights for every Trek movie, which allows them to shop them around to cable outlets from IFC to VH-1 Classic. But if someone wants to create & sell some merchandise based on the characters and places in those movies, then they have to talk to CBS.

So are you implying that he wants to make a series about the nuReliant?
Reliant A, B, C, D, Z, NuReliant, IDK, whatever floats your boat.

I'm just saying, the Reliant getting destroyed in The Wrath of Khan does not mean they can't have a Reliant series set after TWoK.

I think a Reliant series would be nice direction to Star Trek and it gives the team a new avenue to tell stories without interfering with matters dealing with Enterprise. I'm game as long it's not a Sulu series.

I get the feeling people would somehow find the show worthwhile based on the ship being called Reliant. Which I don't get?

No one's saying that.

I'm just saying there's a good chance it'll be set on that ship. That's all.

I posted this in another thread but it's appropriate for this one too:

I'm curious to see what time frame it will be set in. Maybe another time jump like they did with TNG. Instead of exploring our galaxy, maybe they can explore other galaxies or even other dimensions. USS Enterprise, NCC-1701H, first of its class of Trans-Dimensional Starships, exploring not just space but also other dimensions.

That way it still could go back to its roots (exploration) while also going in a new direction (other dimensions.) :techman:

Of course the writing will have to be top notch, taking advantage of the new direction and not just regurgitating all the old Trek stuff.
