Once Upon A Time Season 5 Discussion Thread -Spoilers

Yeah, I didn't like the Disneyfied version of Hercules either. And I had trouble with the basic premise for him being in the Underworld as well. It just didn't make sense, especially since all he had to do was kill all three heads. He made it sound like Cerberus was the Hydra or something in his telling of events.

I was also surprised and disappointed at the portrayal of Hercules. I'm assuming he and Meg will be appearing again later... after all, the Big Bad this volume is Hades!

I'm with you guys. First Arthur and now Hercules are the only times OUAT has disappointed me. I was really disappointed that he was already dead, and that he was only in the one episode.
I did like the whole thing with him needing to save Meg to move on.
The flashback story with Young Snow and Herc was fun. I don't think they'll be able to use Bailey Madison for Young Snow much longer though.
I'm curious to see if Henry is actually going to help Cruellla
As much as I'm disappointed in Herc, I'm really liking Hades, so at least some of their Hercules stuff is working out.

I can't help but wonder if they tried to get James Woods to play Hades. How awesome would that have been?! Plus, he hasn't really done anything in the past few years.

I was really hoping they would too, but Greg Germann's a pretty good replacement.

I didn't care for the casting of Hercules at all- nice kid but just not right for that part.

Does anybody know if there is a correlation between the time shown on the clock as seen in the underworld and the time it was frozen at during the very beginning of the series?

That article didn't specify which season... and it's weird timing. Seems like it's too late for this season's filming, and way way WAY too early for next season's filming. I'm wondering if it's for the very end of Season 5. They always do an off-format two hour season finale, maybe this year it's in a mental institution?

I could be the end of this season as a set up for next.
I'm a huge fan of Witwer, so that good's news to me.

Not that I can think of but I'm betting that those aren't the real names of these two characters. They're most likely fake names for spoilersake.

Any fantasy characters named "Nathaniel" and "Jacob"?

I'm thinking the mental institution might be connected to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I mean Nurse Ratched is now a character in OUAT. As far as the duelling brothers, if Jacob and Nathaniel are them, I wonder if there might be a connection to Lost assuming they aren't fake names. That I will admit is a long shot at this point. However, there have been links to Lost like Apollo candy bars, so who knows?

Well that's a twist I didn't (but should of, given the circumstances with the actress) expect... congrats to the happy (?) couple. :sigh:

I find it interesting which three persons Hades wanted to keep in "Underbrook".

I really like, since coming to the underworld, the increasing partnership between Snow and Regina and suspect being trapped together will further cement the bonds between these three women.

I laughed when Rumple told his ex that Emma had a child with Neal and is now involved with Hook. I would have howled if Emma had also mentioned Milah's grandson's adopted mother was the Evil Queen, AKA Emma's step grandmother.

Pardon my foggy memory, but what happens if you fall in the green water?

And why did Hades cart Hook out into an isolated location to be slowly dipped in without any guards watching? Did he want them to rescue him like that?

He went to the Bondian School of Villainy

The writing was kind of sloppy tonight. Hades tried to coerce Hook into writing the names of three souls he wanted to stay in the underworld. Failing that, he threatened to drown Hook in the river of lost souls by putting him in an unguarded chamber, where Emma later rescued him. He went on to offer a proposal to Rumple to betray the team by secretly destroying their ride home.

The ending was muddy. I wonder if Rumple knew about Regina's "heart split" alternate plan to whisk the team back to the living world. If he knew, he certainly didn't tell Hades about it (meaning he refused to work with him). If he didn't, then he truly meant to desert everyone else and leave by himself. But Regina's magic didn't work either - because Hades made a discovery concerning Belle that he could use against Rumple.

To me, it appears Hades is a very indecisive character who's always changing his mind and lacking any definite strategy to defeat the good guys. He even admitted himself that he had the power to destroy the boat; then why the hell didn't he do it?

By making Gold destroy the boat, he was confirming Gold was still a "bad guy" and unworthy of the child Belle was carrying, no matter that he "did it" to save that child.

Once any part of your body touches the river of lost souls, Mr L, your soul is lost forever. At least that's what tour director Gold told Emma & Milah before they got in the boat.
As for the heart split thing, didn't Cora already show that someone else can't pull Emma's heart out?

Clearly Hades isn't into overpowering people with his might, but with tempting them into sin, to make everyone as bad as he is.
