You mean creating a movie studio with fan money and calling yourself Executive Producer of a fan film isn't a real career??And they both have real life careers.
I was scouring the web just a moment ago, trying to see if anything ever came from the allegations that Alec had used donor funds to buy a new car last year, and instead came across this little pearl. More bloviating and grandstanding... but an instance nonetheless where Axanar wasn't "just" a fan film.

yea, I've been wondering how they're gonna get out of this one. They said right in the Kickstarter that they would use the money to build long term assets for future profit. "By god, those ^&*(%^&*( haters keep questioning me, but I said it in stone!" (paraphrasing :-) ).
a) in front of the judge: the studio was only ever just an affectionate pet concept not a deliberate idea (???)
b) donor badger don't care. no film. no %^&*%&* patches, even.

Seriously, though, they're in a losing battle. They pushed things too far and woke CBS/Paramount, who have been more than gracious. Time for them to wake up and smell the coffee.

I so want to make a historical analogy here, but I think it would be disrespectful in its hyperbole. I'll just say that I had no idea who Michael Hinman was (no offense, Michael) before this and had already made up my mind about the situation by the time I read the 1701 pieces. There's no army of naysayers; they aren't fighting the opinions of an organized mass. The problem is that there's just no viable defense to be made.as this been posted?

Dear Mr. Earnest Argumenter: that undiscovered country is called being awake. It is found by questioning your assumptions and reflecting on the true nature of things. You won't find this in a database. This is why the "good argument" is "winning the opinion battle".
