Should I Be Ashamed as a TOS fan to like the Rebooted Movies?

It seems like those two things aren't compatible. Yes, TOS is my favorite series.

The concept that I liked about the new ones is that they were entertaining and thrilling. Sure, they weren't philosophical, but that is really hard to do at the same time. Movies are supposed to be thrilling. The only really thrilling movie from the original universe is Star Trek: First Contact.

Abrams filth has no place in decent society. Abrams is the Hitler of the Trek franchise, Bad Robot the Third Reich.

But you know, once you look past that they're not bad movies, so no, don't feel ashamed.

What do you mean by "philosophical"?

I liked both TOS and ST11, and I feel no shame. That said, I find a lot to dislike in ST11, but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy it.

I dislike STID very much, but it's not because of TOS.

I love TOS more than any other form of entertainment available on this Earth. I've been a fan nearly since birth (I'd say I started watching in late 70's, because I distinctly remember anticipating TMP and being confused as a little kid that everything looked so different) and I've seen every episode at least 20 times each.

I also really enjoy the JJ Trek era movies. I don't like them as much as 1-6, and I don't think they have as much re-watch value for me as the others...but I loved them when they premiered and had a great time at the theater for both experiences (ID and 2009).

Same here.

You should be so ashamed that it ruins every relationship in your life.
Like that time I was chatting up a hot girl who really seemed into me. Upon realizing I had a thing for Star Trek she mentioned having recently seen "the new movie from the guy behind Lost" and really enjoying it. Deflated my boner right there. I screamed she represented everything wrong with humanity. We never spoke again.

Aspects of this post might be fiction or exaggerated.

The boner, right? That's the part that was exaggerated. ;)
It's true, I'm well-hung and exist in a state of constant erection. It takes quite a lot indeed to deflate one of my hard-ons. Definitely more than one Abrams-loving harlot. Maybe three.

There's no reason they need to be incompatible.

Nope. No reason you should.

If you like something, then that's a thing you like. If you also like other things, then those are other things you also like. There's no inherent conflict.
