CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

When lawyers resort to using the press as a tool you know they're worried about their case.I've never done that and I never would if I thought I was on string ground.
Chuckle. "Control the narrative." I imagine that the 500 people who actually care about this whole thing aren't going to be swayed by press releases, and if AP and Co. is hoping for a jury trial, they are truly delusional.

Was just on FB, looks like Alec has a new girlfriend, wonder what happened with Dianna? He likes blondes, that's for sure. (not that there is anything wrong with that ;))

I suspect that Peters has misrepresented to his lawyers the extent of fan interest in this and the press releases are designed to rally the fans - who aren't actually there.

Having worked as a reporter, I often reached out to lawyers for quotes on stories I wrote. And I never felt I was being used as a tool by an attorney because they were "worried about their case." Just because you wouldn't doesn't mean that other attorney's feel the same as you.

And I found that attorney's who felt very sure of a win more willing to talk to reporters.

Regardless of what I think of Fox news, the execution of the actual story, and the outcomes of this case, the reporter in that story did her job — getting fresh quotes from those involved rather than just quoting the court document. That reporter also reached out to CBS/Paramount's attorney's for quotes, even if they didn't respond. That's what reporters do — get the story from all sides, good or bad. And we certainly don't allow ourselves to be used as tools by unscrupulous lawyers.

It looks like desperation to me on the part of AP's lawyer and lol at Alec Peters vanity scam project mentioned several times as Anaxar in the article.

Not going to screen cap it, I need to respect people's (in this case the new girlfriends) privacy. As much as I may put Alec down, I don't know this woman and it is not right to be posting her info on here. If you guys want, you can do it, but I wont. I stated this because I wonder if the lawsuit effected his relationship with Dianna? or is it just coincidental timing.

Except spell "Axanar" correctly or get the info about "Section 6" correct. I've sent her a message about these errors.

Good call. It's best to leave the personal lives of those involved out of this. This is about the copyright case against Axanar. Not who's dating whom.

Reporters make errors same as any other human being. So long as they're honest about it when they've been pointed out and issue a correction.

My Editor-in-Chief always put our corrections on the front page of the newspaper. Something I admired about him. Admit your mistake, correct it and let people know about it as quickly as possible.

To be honest, I could critique the execution of this story. It's rushed, sloppy, seems hastily put together and omits a lot of details (a symptom of our blog reporting culture). As an editor, I would've sent this back for another rewrite or several.

Alec Peters explains what is Star Trek Axanar on Oct 30, 2012 in a job posting without mentioning it as a mockumentary.

Would certainly be a shame if Dianna switched sides and started leaking info to C/P......

As I said earlier, humor does not always equal "ha ha funny." Some forms of satire, for example, are brutal; they'd elicit no guffaw. But humor covers a lot of territory, overlapping often with others genres, like tragedy. This, btw, perfectly describes my love life.
I'm of the opinion that as much of Shakespeare was drama as was satire. The whole tragic quadruple suicide of Romeo and Juliet always struck me as subtle mocking of the upper class, and King Lear was also pretty vicious in its 'humor'.

Mock turtle.
Great A'Tuin is fake??

Well, I imagine they wouldn't have taken this case pro bono if they didn't feel they could win, AND felt that they could burnish the firm's image in the process.
I still think they are delusional, but what do I know?

I liked it too, to be honest, it was fun to watch, but I liked the 09 reboot too ( but not into darkness :shifty:)

I liked Prelude too, knew many people that worked on it, great bunch of guys. When many of them left after Prelude, that's when I knew something was not right and remained skeptically hopeful until the lawsuit was filed.

Who is to say. In any case, a few times in this thread I have called for much of crew to get out of Axanar, in fear they may incriminate themselves if they are listed as one of the 20 Does. Not sure if this is related to Dianna, but I would hope she (and others) remove themselves from this toxic situation. Alec is the captain of the ship, and he should be the only one that has to go down with it not any of the crew.
