Random question for the group mind-- Have Deadpool and She Hulk ever broken the fourth wall together?

She Hulk hasn't broken the fourth wall in a very long time.

And Deadpool might just be insane and not metaphysical... Although, that's not counting his run down on the letters page and forward.

While the art wasn't 100% to my taste, I otherwise loved Power Man and Iron Fist #1. Totally nostalgic for old time readers like me, and yet not retro or throwback in the slightest. These are simply two characters with a chemistry and dynamic that just work.

Of course, the story incorporates all that has happened with the two since they last teamed-up, and it makes for some good humor as Luke tries to watch his language after his daughter starts #@&%!-ing up a storm and Jessica asks him to stop swearing (an especially ironic moment for those familiar with Alias-era Jessica). So yes, Luke does say "Sweet Christmas!"-- because he has to.

I can't recommend Silver Surfer enough as it's just plain fun. I was already getting a "School Reuinion" from "Doctor Who" vibe when Dawn met former "Companion" Alicia Masters, so I naturally laughed out loud when Alicia name-dropped "Metabalis 3". :guffaw:

I thought that Power Man and Iron Fist was ok, although parts were completely out of character for both of them. Luke would never take that much bs from a minor mob boss like Tomb Stone, I don't care if his language has been toned down. Danny was kind of a doofus, which was weird. Also, the idea that Luke doesn't want to hang out with Danny, and that Jessica really wants to make sure he won't be hanging out with Danny to the point where Luke has to keep justifying haning out with Danny just this one time, was horrible writing. It was completely out of character for Luke, jessica and Danny. But, it was "funny", so I guess that justified it. Just like having the woman who also cussed around her kid pulling a 180 out of nowhere was "justified". I don't think the writer on PM&IFD #1 has ever read any comic featuring Luke, Jessica or Danny. I'll give it an issue or two more, but between the art and out of character writing I probably won't stick with it too long.

Wow I pretty much disagree entirely.

While Danny was a little on the goofy side, it certainly wasn't a deal-breakingly so.

As for Luke and Jessica-- have you ever known any couples both before they got together all the way through having kids? It changes people and their priorities. I've known many a mom stop dropping F-bombs after having kids. Jessica doesn't care if Luke and Danny hang out, she doesn't want them doing super-hero stuff. Just like any real-world wife and mother that doesn't want their husband going out on the town having fun with his friends every night any more because he should have other priorities at home. He's not married to Danny. Besides, Jessica isn't into any of that super-hero crap anymore, anyway.

Luke took BS from Tombstone because he was tyring to avoid a violent outcome. That was laid out out front.

And given that it included old school characters like Jennie Royce and Black Mariah should indicate that writer David Walker has read more than few PPM & IM comics in his day.

I'm gonna say that we should just agree to disagree here, but I know you better than that.

Luke is still doing superhero stuff without Danny, so that makes absolutely no sense. He has in no way retired. Jessica is just written as not wanting Luke to hang out with his friend. Also,Jessica was cursing in front of her kid all through Bendis's Avengers run. Even comparing to the Mighty Avengers run from last year or so makes Luke and Jessica completely out of character.

Its probably pretty easy to google "Power Man & Iron fist", and find info on their old series.. Besides, its not a matter of him knowing some obscure characters from the way back in the day. Its what Luke and Danny have been doing and how they have been acting in the last decade of comics that the writer seems unclear on. The writer doesn't know Luke/Jessica's dynamic, so he writes it as a sitcom where the wife wants the husband to tone down his language, stay at home and not hang out with his friend. I think I've actually read every comic jessica Jones has been in, outside of minor cameos, and none of her stuff in PM&IF #1 fit her at all, and that's taking into account only her post-Alias stuff where she was toned down after becoming a mom. The comic read as a mediocre sitcom starring formerly good heroes. I'm only giving it a few issues because it wasn't completely horrendous, plus I'm curious to see if it will get better or worse.

In other Marvel talk, I really hope Marvel just explains what Cyclops did (in detail) soon. Its getting annoying to have it keep getting referenced, but not actually getting a flashback or something.

It's not that you give a dissenting opinion, it's your inability to let go of things. I came in and said that I liked PM&IF, you gave your dissenting opinion, and I rebuttled.

But instead of agreeing to disagree or say "good day", you take apart my opinion as if it were somehow wrong where yours is right, and that, my friend, is what people tend to find annoying.

I get it. You didn't like PM&IF. I have no problem with your opinion. Mine differs. But I'm not going to get into it with you, because anyone who has engaged you on why you don't like, say, Mockingbird on AoS, or Kirsten Ritter, or "City of Death" knows that it's like debating a brick wall. You will repeat the same talking points, most of which will seem to have little substance to anyone here except you, over and over and into the ground far after anyone else cares anymore. But that's just my opinion...

So you give an opinion, and I give a rebuttal, and you comment on my opinion, and I'm not supposed to defend my opinion after that? I really don't understand that at all. I never said your opinion was wrong, I just showed why I disagreed with it. You're the one saying that my opinion has no substance, implying that yours does while mine doesn't. So, its okay for you to insult my opinion when I didn't (or at least never meant) to insult your opinion, I was just explaining what I disagreed with. That seems a bit hypocritical, but whatever

Also, now I really want to know

what the heck "City of Death" is. I'm usually aware of what my "sore spots" are when it comes to nerd stuff that ticks me off, but I have literally no idea what that is a reference to. Maybe the Metropolis fight in Man of Steel? I actually kind of like that movie at this point and don't generally go and complain about it, but that's the only thing I can possibly see that being a reference to. Regardless, yeah, my opinion on things is fairly solid. I don't twist to go with whatever opinion is popular but disagrees with mine, so I can't be "debated" into pretending to enjoy things I don't like.

Did anyone read Avengers Standoff? I got a distinct Wayward Pines vibe off of it.

For some completely unexplainable reason, people always respond with "Deadpool is different." They also have an X-Book crossover event with Apocalypse Wars. Half the Warzones in Secret Wars were X-Men references. But people will continue to make this claim.

Avengers Standoff was not interesting to me. I don't like comic books without multi colored spandex everywhere :wah:

So here's a massive coincidence. I just happened to read "Avengers: The Crossing" for the first time, the horrible 1990s crossover that revealed Iron Man, his entire career, had been mentally manipulated by Kang the Conqueror and he murdered a bunch of fifth tier Avengers, died, and got replaced by his teenage self taken from the past. :brickwall:

Anyway, in this week's All New Avengers #6, Iron Man wonders aloud,
"If Kang could reach into our past and retool The Vision to his ends... implant ideas in him... what could keep him from doing that to any of us?"

So, does this mean that entire story line never happened? I know it was critically reviled and they pretended it never happened afterwards. It happened right before Onslaught / Heroes Return and when Iron Man came back he was normal again without mention of it. Was this Mark Waid's nod and wink to that story?

well, most of that was retconed in Avengers Forever. it was all Immortus using some Space Phantoms to manipulate Stark. but yes, the whole story was swept under the rug and is rarely ever referenced.

I'd have to go with Kirk5555, I didn't buy Luke meakly taking crap off tombstone either.

His look is pretty awful as well in this - he looks more like Uncle Phil than Luke Cage.

I'm looking at the cover and it says "Behold the Vision!" so I'm thinking The "Vision is such a dick!" ...Behold the Dick?
